另外，我降旨命你們幫助猶太人的長老建造上帝的殿，要立刻從河西的王室稅收中撥出款項作建殿之用，以免耽誤工程。

你們必失去所有，饑餓乾渴、赤身裸體地侍奉耶和華派來攻擊你們的敵人。祂要把鐵軛加在你們的頸上，直到消滅你們。

他們說：「我們是亞伯拉罕的子孫，從來沒有做過奴隸，你為什麼說我們可以得到自由呢？」

我們也通知你們不可向這座上帝殿的祭司、利未人、歌樂手、殿門守衛、殿役或其他工人徵收賦稅。

我要嚴懲你們，使你們敗在敵人手下；你們要被那些恨你們的人統治，即使沒有人追趕，你們也要逃命。

「你們栽種、修剪葡萄園，卻吃不到葡萄，也喝不到葡萄酒，因為葡萄必被蟲子吃掉。

王該知道，如果這城建好，城牆完工，他們將不再進貢、交賦、納稅，王的稅收必受虧損。

我對他們說：「我們在盡力贖回那些被賣到外邦的猶太同胞，你們卻要賣他們為奴，好讓我們再贖回他們嗎？」他們都沉默不語，無言以對。
