Therefore You handed them over to their enemies who oppressed them, But when they cried out to You in the time of their distress, You heard from heaven, and according to Your great compassion You gave them people who saved them from the hand of their enemies.

故主付之於敵手、加之以困苦、急難之時、彼呼籲主、主自天俯聽、大發矜憐、屢賜以救者、拯之脫於敵手、

So you delivered them into the hands of their enemies, who oppressed them. But when they were oppressed they cried out to you. From heaven you heard them, and in your great compassion you gave them deliverers, who rescued them from the hand of their enemies.

So you handed them over to their enemies, who treated them badly. Then they cried out to you. From heaven you heard them. You loved them very much. So you sent leaders to help them. The leaders saved them from the power of their enemies.

And the Lord gave Israel a savior, so that they escaped from under the hand of the Arameans; and the sons of Israel lived in their tents as previously.

Then the sons of Israel said to the Lord,“ We have sinned, do to us whatever seems good to You; only please save us this day.”So they removed the foreign gods from among them and served the Lord; and He could no longer endure the misery of Israel.

So He brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion on young man or virgin, old man or frail; He handed them all over to him.

and we have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in His teachings which He set before us through His servants the prophets.Indeed, all Israel has violated Your Law and turned aside, not obeying Your voice; so the curse has gushed forth on us, along with the oath which is written in the Law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against Him.So He has confirmed His words which He had spoken against us and against our rulers who ruled us, to bring on us great disaster; for under the entire heaven there has not been done anything like what was done in Jerusalem.Just as it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come on us; yet we have not sought the favor of the Lord our God by turning from our wrongdoing and giving attention to Your truth.So the Lord has kept the disaster in store and brought it on us; for the Lord our God is righteous with respect to all His deeds which He has done, but we have not obeyed His voice.

So Israel was brought very low because of Midian, and the sons of Israel cried out to the Lord.Now it came about, when the sons of Israel cried out to the Lord on account of Midian,that the Lord sent a prophet to the sons of Israel, and he said to them,“ This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says:‘ It was I who brought you up from Egypt, and brought you out of the house of slavery.And I rescued you from the hands of the Egyptians, and from the hands of all your oppressors, and I drove them out from you and gave you their land,and I said to you,“ I am the Lord your God; you shall not fear the gods of the Amorites in whose land you live.” But you have not obeyed Me.’ ”

And when the Lord raised up judges for them, the Lord was with the judge and saved them from the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for the Lord was moved to pity by their groaning because of those who tormented and oppressed them.

Yet the Lord did not say that He would wipe out the name of Israel from under heaven, but He saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.

When he went to war, the Lord handed over to him Cushan rishathaim king of Mesopotamia, so that he prevailed over Cushan rishathaim.Then the land was at rest for forty years. And Othniel the son of Kenaz died.Now the sons of Israel again did evil in the sight of the Lord. So the Lord strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil in the sight of the Lord.And he gathered to himself the sons of Ammon and Amalek; and he went and defeated Israel, and they took possession of the city of the palm trees.And the sons of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab for eighteen years.But when the sons of Israel cried out to the Lord, the Lord raised up a deliverer for them, Ehud the son of Gera, the Benjaminite, a left handed man. And the sons of Israel sent tribute by him to Eglon the king of Moab.Now Ehud made himself a sword which had two edges, a cubit in length, and he strapped it on his right thigh under his cloak.Then he presented the tribute to Eglon king of Moab. Now Eglon was a very fat man.And it came about, when he had finished presenting the tribute, that Ehud sent away the people who had carried the tribute.But he himself turned back from the idols which were at Gilgal, and said,“ I have a secret message for you, O king.” And the king said,“ Silence!” And all who were attending him left him.Then Ehud came to him while he was sitting in his cool roof chamber alone. And Ehud said,“ I have a message from God for you.” And he got up from his seat.Then Ehud reached out with his left hand and took the sword from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly.The hilt of the sword also went in after the blade, and the fat closed over the blade because he did not pull the sword out of his belly; and the refuse came out.Then Ehud went out into the vestibule, and shut the doors of the roof chamber behind him, and locked them.When he had left, the king’s servants came and looked, and behold, the doors of the roof chamber were locked; and they said,“ Undoubtedly he is relieving himself in the cool room.”So they waited until it would have been shameful to wait longer; but behold, he did not open the doors of the roof chamber. So they took the key and opened them, and behold, their master had fallen to the floor dead.Now Ehud escaped while they were hesitating, and he passed by the idols and escaped to Seirah.And when he arrived, he blew the trumpet in the hill country of Ephraim; and the sons of Israel went down with him from the hill country, and he was leading them.Then he said to them,“ Pursue them, for the Lord has handed your enemies the Moabites over to you.” So they went down after him and took control of the crossing places of the Jordan opposite Moab, and did not allow anyone to cross.They struck and killed about ten thousand Moabites at that time, all robust and valiant men; and no one escaped.So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. And the land was at rest for eighty years.

The deliverers will ascend Mount Zion To judge the mountain of Esau, And the kingdom will be the Lord’s.

The Lord said to Moses,“ Behold, you are about to lie down with your fathers; and this people will arise and play the prostitute with the foreign gods of the land into the midst of which they are going, and they will abandon Me and break My covenant which I have made with them.Then My anger will be kindled against them on that day, and I will abandon them and hide My face from them, and they will be consumed, and many evils and troubles will find them; so they will say on that day,‘ Is it not because our God is not among us that these evils have found us?’But I will assuredly hide My face on that day because of all the evil that they will have done, for they will have turned away to other gods.
