“ Because of your great compassion you did not abandon them in the wilderness. By day the pillar of cloud did not fail to guide them on their path, nor the pillar of fire by night to shine on the way they were to take.

“ Because you loved them so much, you didn’t leave them in the desert. During the day the pillar of cloud didn’t stop guiding them on their path. At night the pillar of fire didn’t stop shining on the way you wanted them to go.

you in your great mercies did not forsake them in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud to lead them in the way did not depart from them by day, nor the pillar of fire by night to light for them the way by which they should go.

“ But in your great mercy you did not abandon them to die in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud still led them forward by day, and the pillar of fire showed them the way through the night.

you did not abandon them in the wilderness because of your great compassion. During the day the pillar of cloud never turned away from them, guiding them on their journey. And during the night the pillar of fire illuminated the way they should go.

You, in Your great compassion, Did not abandon them in the wilderness; The pillar of cloud did not leave them by day, To guide them on their way, Nor the pillar of fire by night, to light for them the way in which they were to go.

Yet in Your manifold mercies You did not forsake them in the wilderness. The pillar of the cloud did not depart from them by day, To lead them on the road; Nor the pillar of fire by night, To show them light, And the way they should go.

You did not abandon them in the wilderness because of Your great compassion. During the day the pillar of cloud never turned away from them, guiding them on their journey. And during the night the pillar of fire illuminated the way they should go.

所以你将他们交在敌人的手中，敌人就折磨他们。他们遭难的时候哀求你，你就从天上垂听，照你丰富的怜悯赐给他们拯救者，救他们脱离敌人的手。

白昼你用云柱引导他们，黑夜你用火柱照亮他们当行的路。

为了他们，他记念自己的约，照他丰盛的慈爱改变心意，

耶和华走在他们前面，日间用云柱引领他们的路，夜间用火柱照亮他们，使他们日夜都可以行走。日间的云柱，夜间的火柱，总不离开百姓的面前。

弟兄们，我不愿意你们不知道，我们的祖宗从前都在云下，都从海中经过，都在云里、海里受洗归了摩西，

立起帐幕的那日，有云彩遮盖帐幕，就是法柜的帐幕；从晚上到早晨，云彩在帐幕上，形状如火。经常都是这样：云彩遮盖帐幕，夜间云彩形状如火。云彩几时从帐幕上升，以色列人就几时起行；云彩在哪里停住，以色列人就在哪里安营。以色列人遵照耶和华的指示起行，也遵照耶和华的指示安营。云彩在帐幕上停留多久，他们就留在营里多久。云彩在帐幕上停留许多日子，以色列人就遵照耶和华的吩咐不起行。有时云彩在帐幕上只停了几天，他们就遵照耶和华的指示留在营里，也遵照耶和华的指示起行。有时云彩从晚上留到早晨；早晨云彩上升，他们就起行。无论是白天是黑夜，当云彩上升的时候，他们就要起行。云彩停留在帐幕上，无论是两天，一个月，或更长的日子，以色列人就留在营里不起行；但云彩一上升，他们就起行。

我这么做是为了我名的缘故，免得我的名在列国眼中被亵渎，因为在这些列国眼前我领了他们出来。

我们的祖宗在埃及不明白你的奇事，不记念你丰盛的慈爱，反倒在红海行了悖逆。然而，他因自己的名拯救他们，为要彰显他的大能。

埃及人要告诉这地的居民，他们已经听见你—耶和华是在这百姓中间，因为你—耶和华面对面显示自己，你的云彩停在他们以上。你日间在云柱中，夜间在火柱中，在他们的前面行。

但我却缩手而未如此行；我这么做是为了我名的缘故，免得我的名在列国眼中被亵渎，因为在这些列国眼前我领了他们出来。

我的上帝啊，求你侧耳而听，睁眼而看，眷顾我们那荒凉之地和称为你名下的城。我们在你面前恳求，不是因自己的义，而是因你丰富的怜悯。

雅各啊，要思念这些事；以色列啊，你是我的仆人。我造了你，你是我的仆人，以色列啊，我必不忘记你。

耶和华必在整座锡安山，在会众之上，白天造云，黑夜发出烟和火焰的光，因为在一切荣耀之上必有华盖；这要作为棚子，白天可以遮荫避暑，暴风雨侵袭时，可作藏身处和避难所。

在他们所行的路上，在以色列全家的眼前，白天，耶和华的云彩在帐幕上，黑夜，有火在云彩中。

“我—耶和华是不改变的；所以，雅各的子孙啊，你们不致灭亡。

耶和华必因他大名的缘故不撇弃他的子民，因为耶和华喜悦你们作他的子民。

因耶和华的慈爱，我们不致灭绝，因他的怜悯永不断绝，

主—我们的上帝是怜悯饶恕人的，我们却违背了他，

然而因你丰富的怜悯，你不全然灭绝他们，也不丢弃他们，因为你是有恩惠、有怜悯的上帝。
