Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and teacher of the Law, and the Levites who were instructing the people said to them all,“ This day is holy to the Lord your God. Do not mourn or weep.” For all the people had been weeping as they listened to the words of the Law.

Nehemiah was the governor. Ezra was a priest and the teacher of the Law. They spoke up. So did the Levites who were teaching the people. All these men said to the people,“ This day is set apart to honor the Lord your God. So don’t weep. Don’t be sad.” All the people had been weeping as they listened to the words of the Law.

族中最著者、樂輸禮物、以畀百工、方伯輸庫之金六千兩、盂五十、祭司之衣五百三十襲。

牧伯曰、所獻之物、彼不可食、越至於後、有祭司興、能別烏陵土明、言可食則可食。

七月朔、眾男女、凡能聽而知之者、咸在水門衢、祭司以士喇抱書至、自朝至於日中、當眾前誦讀、僉聆斯義。

於爾上帝耶和華前食之、所為之事、既蒙錫嘏、故爾及眷聚、必欣喜歡忭。

爾與子女僕婢、必欣喜在爾上帝耶和華前。利未人主於爾家者、既無恆業、亦必使同樂。

有時可哭、有時可笑、有時可哀、有時可躍、

當時我立盟約、書之於籍、我之諸伯、祭司、利未人、鈐之以印、其名臚列於左、哈迦利子、方伯尼希米、與眾祭司西底家、

爾與子女僕婢、及主爾家之利未人、賓旅孤寡、俱必欣喜懽忭、歷至七日必守節、奉爾上帝、耶和華、於其特簡之室、爾之物產、爾之造作、既蒙爾上帝耶和華錫嘏、則必欣喜懽忭。

告以色列族云、七月之朔當守安息日、必有聖會、吹角為記、

爾上帝耶和華特簡之室、為人籲名之所、爾與子女僕婢、及主爾家之利未人、暨賓旅孤寡、俱必欣喜懽忭、於爾上帝耶和華前。

牧伯曰、所獻之物、彼不可食、越至於後有祭司興、能別烏陵土明言可食則可食。

七月朔、乃吹角之期、必有聖會、咸止工作、必以牡犢一、牡綿羊一、未盈歲之羔七、純潔是務、獻為燔祭、取其馨香、以奉事我、必為牡犢獻和油之麵一斗八升、為牡綿羊獻一斗二升、為各羔獻六升、以為禮物、更獻山羊之羔一、為贖罪祭。上所獻者、即在月朔、及每日所獻燔祭禮物、灌酒之外、俱循常例、依其核數、取其馨香、以奉事我。○

故昔未有法而我生、誡至、惡生而我死、

耶和華以誡命法度賜於以色列族、選士祭司以士喇能洞明之、亞達泄西王乃頒以明詔、曰、

凡在郇邑、哀哭者使不蒙塵、而冠花冠、不喪膽、不殷憂、懽然頌美、若沐以膏油、若被以麗服、譬彼茂林、耶和華所植、以彰其榮、

遇有喪之時、我未食之、為不潔之事、我未取之、為祀亡之用、我未予之、循我上帝耶和華命、遵其所諭而行。

利未人潔己、奉事耶和華、以其道訓迪以色列人、約西亞告之曰、以色列王大闢子所羅門所建之殿、當置聖匱於中、毋庸肩負、役事爾之上帝耶和華、輔翼以色列民、

耶書亞、巴尼、示哩比、雅民、亞谷、沙比太、戶地雅、馬西雅、其利大、亞薩哩亞、約撒八、哈難、比來亞、與利未人、訓迪斯民、使明律例、民立其所。利未人朗誦上帝律例之書、疏通其義、俾民明晰。

利未人、以耶和華道、訓迪民人、希西家勞之。歷七日、眾會享盛饌、獻祭以酬恩、於列祖之上帝耶和華前、自陳其過。

知我譴責此邑、爰其民人、言必使其邑歸於寂寞、其民服於咒詛、爾則中心畏懼、卑以自牧、裂衣泣哭於我前、我許爾所祈、

今吾喜、非因爾憂、乃因爾憂而生悔改、蓋爾憂、遵上帝道而憂、明我不虧爾、夫遵上帝道而憂者、其悔改無後悔、而得救、從世俗而憂者、致人於死、惟爾遵上帝道而憂、所以殷勤、自訴、怨艾、恐懼、戀慕、熱中、自責、若是、故爾得以此自表為潔、

民不知道、以至滅亡、惟爾祭司、厭棄真理、故我棄爾、不為祭司、爾既忘我法度、我不佑爾後人、

當約薩撻孫、耶書亞子約雅金、方伯尼希米、選士祭司以士喇之時、上所載數人、猶存於世。

王聞書言、裂其衣、

蓋恃法而行者、無人得稱義於上帝前、法第使人知罪耳、

昔以色列族不尊崇真上帝、不從祭司訓迪、不守律例、至於持久。

爾復娶於異邦已棄之妻、詣耶和華臺前、哭泣號呼、澘然下涕、故耶和華不垂顧爾、不納爾禮物、

王聞律例所言、自裂其衣、

曰我得斯書、不明厥旨、爾曹往哉、為我及猶大以色列之遺民、諮諏耶和華、蓋我列祖未從此書所言、干耶和華震怒。
