他在他的族弟兄和撒瑪利亞的軍兵面前說：『嘿！這些衰弱憔悴的猶大人要作甚麼？他們要奮不顧身麼？要宰獻祭牲動工麼？要在一天之內就作完麼？他們要從塵土廢堆中拿火燒過的石頭把它重新建造起來麼？』

告其同宗、及撒瑪利亞軍旅曰、此荏弱之猶大人何為、豈欲自衛乎、豈欲獻祭乎、豈能一日成之乎、豈於瓦礫之場、復起被焚之石乎、

and in the presence of his associates and the army of Samaria, he said,“ What are those feeble Jews doing? Will they restore their wall? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they finish in a day? Can they bring the stones back to life from those heaps of rubble— burned as they are?”

He spoke to his friends and the army of Samaria. He said,“ What are those Jews trying to do? Can they make their city wall like new again? Will they offer sacrifices? Can they finish everything in a single day? The stones from their city wall and buildings are piled up like trash. And everything has been badly burned. Can they use those stones to rebuild everything again?”

And he said in the presence of his brothers and of the army of Samaria,“ What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they restore it for themselves? Will they sacrifice? Will they finish up in a day? Will they revive the stones out of the heaps of rubbish, and burned ones at that?”

saying in front of his friends and the Samarian army officers,“ What does this bunch of poor, feeble Jews think they’re doing? Do they think they can build the wall in a single day by just offering a few sacrifices? Do they actually think they can make something of stones from a rubbish heap— and charred ones at that?”

before his colleagues and the powerful men of Samaria and said,“ What are these pathetic Jews doing? Can they restore it by themselves? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they ever finish it? Can they bring these burnt stones back to life from the mounds of rubble?”

And he spoke in the presence of his brothers and the wealthy people of Samaria and said,“ What are these feeble Jews doing? Are they going to restore the temple for themselves? Can they offer sacrifices? Can they finish it in a day? Can they revive the stones from the heaps of rubble, even the burned ones?”

And he spoke before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said,“ What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they fortify themselves? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they complete it in a day? Will they revive the stones from the heaps of rubbish— stones that are burned?”

And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What are these feeble Jews doing? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of rubbish, seeing they are burned?

before his colleagues and the powerful men of Samaria, and said,“ What are these pathetic Jews doing? Can they restore it by themselves? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they ever finish it? Can they bring these burnt stones back to life from the mounds of rubble?”

He spoke before his brothers and the army of Samaria, and said,“ What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they fortify themselves? Will they sacrifice? Will they finish in a day? Will they revive the stones out of the heaps of rubbish, since they are burned?”

省長利宏、祕書伸帥和他們其餘的同僚：法官、欽差、議員、官長（“法官、欽差、議員、官長”或譯：“底拿人、亞法薩提迦人、他毘拉人、亞法撒人”），亞基衛人、巴比倫人、書珊人，就是以攔人，還有偉大尊貴的亞斯那巴擄來安置在撒瑪利亞城和河西那邊其餘地方的居民，呈上奏文。

但是神卻揀選了世上愚笨的，使那些有智慧的羞愧。他也揀選了世上軟弱的，使那些剛強的羞愧。

猶大人說：“搬運的人氣力已經衰弱，但瓦礫仍多，我們不能再建城牆了！”

耶和華啊！我聽見你的聲音，懼怕你的作為；求你在這些年間復興，在這些年間彰顯，發怒的時候以憐憫為懷。

耶路撒冷城牆舉行奉獻典禮的時候，眾民在各地尋找利未人，帶他們到耶路撒冷來，要他們稱謝、歌唱、敲鈸、彈琴鼓瑟，歡歡喜喜地舉行奉獻典禮。

那一天，眾人獻上極大的祭祀，而且非常歡樂，因為神使他們大大歡樂；連婦女和孩童也都歡樂；耶路撒冷歡樂的聲音在老遠的地方都可以聽見。

他問我：“人子啊！這些骸骨能活過來嗎？”我回答：“主耶和華啊！唯有你才知道。”他又對我說：“你要向這些骸骨說預言，對它們說：‘枯乾的骸骨啊！你們要聽耶和華的話。主耶和華對這些骸骨這樣說：看哪！我必使氣息進入你們裡面，你們就活過來了。我必使你們生筋長肉，給你們包上皮，又把氣息放入你們裡面，你們必活過來；你們就知道我是耶和華。’”於是我遵命說預言；我正在說預言的時候，就聽見有響聲，骨頭與骨頭互相結合起來，格格作響。我觀看，見骸骨生了筋，長了肉，又有皮包在上面，只是它們裡面還沒有氣息。他對我說：“你要向氣息說預言。人子啊！你要說預言。你要向氣息說：‘主耶和華這樣說：氣息啊！你要從四方（“四方”原文作“四風”）而來，吹在這些被殺的人身上，使它們活過來。’”於是我遵命說預言，氣息就進入骸骨裡面，骸骨就活過來，並且站起，成了一支極大的軍隊。他對我說：“人子啊！這些骸骨就是以色列全家；他們常說：‘我們的骸骨枯乾了，我們的盼望消失了；我們都滅亡了。’因此，你要說預言，對他們說：‘主耶和華這樣說：我的子民哪！我要打開你們的墳墓，把你們從墳墓中領上來，帶你們回以色列地去。我的子民哪！我打開你們的墳墓，把你們從墳墓中領上來的時候，你們就知道我是耶和華。

他們二人就讓非利士人的駐軍看見。非利士人說：“看哪！有希伯來人從他們躲藏的洞裡出來了。”駐軍中有人應聲對約拿單和替他拿武器的人說：“你們上我們這裡來吧！我們有一件事要告訴你們。”約拿單對替他拿武器的人說：“你跟我上去，因為耶和華已經把他們交在以色列人的手裡了。”

到那日，耶和華必保護耶路撒冷的居民；他們中間最軟弱的，到那日必好像大衛，大衛家必好像神，好像行在他們前面的耶和華使者。

那非利士人對大衛說：“難道我是一條狗嗎？你竟拿杖來攻擊我。”於是指著自己的神咒詛大衛。那非利士人又對大衛說：“你到我這裡來吧！我要把你的肉給空中的飛鳥和田野的走獸吃。”
