耶和華吩咐摩西說：「你數點以色列人，計算人頭時，被數的每一個人要把他生命的贖價獻給耶和華，免得災殃在數點中臨到他們。每一個被數的人要按照聖所的舍客勒，付半舍客勒，一舍客勒是二十季拉；這半舍客勒是獻給耶和華的禮物。每一個被數的人，就是二十歲以上的，要將這禮物獻給耶和華。富有的不必多付，貧窮的也不可少出，各人都要獻半舍客勒給耶和華，作你們生命的贖價。你要向以色列人收這贖罪的銀子，用在會幕的事工。這要在耶和華面前為以色列人作紀念，作你們生命的贖價。」

你要以財物和一切初熟的土產尊崇耶和華，

因為人只要有願做的心，必照他所有的蒙悅納，並不是照他所沒有的。

我所立為柱子的這塊石頭必作上帝的殿；凡你所賜給我的，我必將十分之一獻給你。」
