我聞此言、乃坐而哭泣、悲哀數日、禁食禱於天上之天主前、曰、

When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.

報者曰、以色列人遁於非利士人前、民中被殺者甚多、爾二子何弗尼非尼哈亦死、天主之匱見擄、言及天主之匱、以利自座仰墜於後、隕於門旁、折頸而死、蓋以利年邁體胖、體胖原文作體重彼為以色列人士師、歷四十年、其媳、非尼哈妻懷孕、產期將及、聞天主之匱被擄、舅與夫並死、突然痛楚、卷曲以產、危難將死之際、旁侍諸婦曰、勿懼、爾生男子、產婦不答、亦不以為意、乃名子曰以迦博、以迦博譯即失榮之義蓋曰、榮已離以色列、因天主之匱被擄、舅與夫皆死也、又曰、榮已離以色列、因天主之匱被擄也、

不得赴節筵而憂者、我必集之、彼乃屬爾者也、彼乃屬爾者也或作彼昔自爾而出彼因郇邑蒙羞、視若重擔、視若重擔或作如負重擔
