主啊，求你留意听你仆人的祷告，也听那些喜爱敬畏你名的仆人的祷告；求你使你的仆人今天顺利，使他在这人面前蒙怜悯。”那时我是王的酒政。

主啊，求你側耳聽你僕人的祈禱，和喜愛敬畏你名眾僕人的祈禱，使你僕人現今亨通，在王面前蒙恩。」我是作王酒政的。

Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name. Give your servant success today by granting him favor in the presence of this man.” I was cupbearer to the king.

O Lord, I pray, please let Your ear be attentive to the prayer of Your servant, and to the prayer of Your servants who desire to fear Your name; and let Your servant prosper this day, I pray, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man.” For I was the king’s cupbearer.

O Lord, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who delight to fear thy name; and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. Now I was cupbearer to the king.

Early the following spring, in the month of Nisan, during the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes’ reign, I was serving the king his wine. I had never before appeared sad in his presence.

Praise the Lord, the God of our ancestors, who made the king want to beautify the Temple of the Lord in Jerusalem!And praise him for demonstrating such unfailing love to me by honoring me before the king, his council, and all his mighty nobles! I felt encouraged because the gracious hand of the Lord my God was on me. And I gathered some of the leaders of Israel to return with me to Jerusalem.

And please give me a letter addressed to Asaph, the manager of the king’s forest, instructing him to give me timber. I will need it to make beams for the gates of the Temple fortress, for the city walls, and for a house for myself.” And the king granted these requests, because the gracious hand of God was on me.

Pray for us, for our conscience is clear and we want to live honorably in everything we do.

He then restored the chief cup bearer to his former position, so he could again hand Pharaoh his cup.

In the first year of King Cyrus of Persia, the Lord fulfilled the prophecy he had given through Jeremiah. He stirred the heart of Cyrus to put this proclamation in writing and to send it throughout his kingdom:

Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord; hear my urgent cry.

The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; he guides it wherever he pleases.

This Ezra was a scribe who was well versed in the Law of Moses, which the Lord, the God of Israel, had given to the people of Israel. He came up to Jerusalem from Babylon, and the king gave him everything he asked for, because the gracious hand of the Lord his God was on him.

Pharaoh’s chief cup bearer, however, forgot all about Joseph, never giving him another thought.

Finally, the king’s chief cup bearer spoke up.“ Today I have been reminded of my failure,” he told Pharaoh.

For they hated knowledge and chose not to fear the Lord.

Lord, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws; our heart’s desire is to glorify your name.In the night I search for you; in the morning I earnestly seek you. For only when you come to judge the earth will people learn what is right.

“ Your name will no longer be Jacob,” the man told him.“ From now on you will be called Israel, because you have fought with God and with men and have won.”

So the chief cup bearer told Joseph his dream first.“ In my dream,” he said,“ I saw a grapevine in front of me.The vine had three branches that began to bud and blossom, and soon it produced clusters of ripe grapes.I was holding Pharaoh’s wine cup in my hand, so I took a cluster of grapes and squeezed the juice into the cup. Then I placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand.”“ This is what the dream means,” Joseph said.“ The three branches represent three days.Within three days Pharaoh will lift you up and restore you to your position as his chief cup bearer.

Hear my cry, O Lord. Pay attention to my prayer.

Pharaoh became angry with these two officials,

May God Almighty give you mercy as you go before the man, so that he will release Simeon and let Benjamin return. But if I must lose my children, so be it.”

O Lord, please rescue me from the hand of my brother, Esau. I am afraid that he is coming to attack me, along with my wives and children.
