All those who see you will run away from you. They will say,‘ Nineveh is destroyed. Who will mourn over it?’ Where can I find someone to comfort your people?”

凡看见你的，都必逃跑离开你，说：‘尼尼微荒凉了！’有谁为你悲伤呢？我何处寻得安慰你的人呢？”

將來凡看見你的都必躲避你，說：『尼尼微毁滅了；有誰為她悲傷呢？』我可從哪裏尋得安慰你的人呢？

凡見爾者、必逃避爾曰、尼尼微荒蕪、誰哀悼之、慰藉爾者、我何由而尋之乎、

凡見爾者將遁逃遙立云、尼尼微邑傾圮矣、孰矜恤之、孰慰藉之、

凡見爾者、必遁逃遙立遁逃遙立或作逃避爾云、尼尼微邑傾圮傾圮或作拆毀矣、孰為哀慟、我由何尋得人以慰藉爾、

All who see you will flee from you and say,‘ Nineveh is in ruins— who will mourn for her?’ Where can I find anyone to comfort you?”

And all who look at you will shrink from you and say,“ Wasted is Nineveh; who will grieve for her?” Where shall I seek comforters for you?

All who see you will shrink back and say,‘ Nineveh lies in ruins. Where are the mourners?’ Does anyone regret your destruction?”

Then all who see you will recoil from you, saying,“ Nineveh is devastated; who will show sympathy to her?” Where can I find anyone to comfort you?

And it will come about that all who see you Will shrink from you and say,‘ Nineveh is devastated! Who will have sympathy for her?’ Where shall I seek comforters for you?”

It shall come to pass that all who look upon you Will flee from you, and say,‘ Nineveh is laid waste! Who will bemoan her?’ Where shall I seek comforters for you?”

And it shall come to pass, that all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?

Then all who see you will recoil from you, saying,“ Nineveh is devastated; who will show sympathy to her?” Where can I find anyone to comfort you?

And it shall come to pass,[ that] all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?

Everyone who sees you will turn away from you in disgust; they will say,‘ Nineveh has been devastated! Who will lament for her?’ There will be no one to comfort you!”

It will happen that all those who look at you will flee from you, and say,‘ Nineveh is laid waste! Who will mourn for her?’ Where will I seek comforters for you?”

“ Jerusalem, who will have pity on you? Who will mourn for you? Who will stop to ask how you are doing?

Nothing but trouble has come to you. You have been wiped out and destroyed. And you have suffered hunger and war. No one feels sorry for you. No one can comfort you.

They will be terrified by her suffering. They will stand far away from her. And they will cry out,“‘ How terrible! How terrible it is for you, great city! How terrible for you, mighty city of Babylon! In just one hour you have been destroyed!’

“ The nations say,‘ We would have healed Babylon. But it can’t be healed. So let’s leave it. Let’s each go to our own land. Babylon’s sins reach all the way to the skies. They rise up as high as the heavens.’

All the Israelites around them heard their cries. They ran away from them. They shouted,“ The ground is going to swallow us up too!”

City of Jerusalem, what can I say about you? What can I compare you to? People of Zion, what are you like? I want to comfort you. Your wound is as deep as the ocean. Who can heal you?

Here is a prophecy the Lord gave Nahum, who was from the town of Elkosh. The prophecy came in a vision and is written in a book. The prophecy is about Nineveh.

“ Steal the silver!” the attackers shout.“ Grab the gold!” The supply is endless. There is plenty of wealth among all the city’s treasures.Nineveh is destroyed, robbed and stripped! Hearts melt away in fear. Knees give way. Bodies tremble with fear. Everyone’s face turns pale.

They will cry out,“‘ How terrible! How terrible it is for you, great city, dressed in fine linen, purple and bright red! How terrible for you, great city, gleaming with gold, jewels and pearls!In just one hour your great wealth has been destroyed!’“ Every sea captain and all who travel by ship will stand far away. So will the sailors and all who earn their living from the sea.They will see the smoke rising as Babylon burns. They will ask,‘ Was there ever a city like this great city?’They will throw dust on their heads. They will weep and mourn. They will cry out,“‘ How terrible! How terrible it is for you, great city! All who had ships on the sea became rich because of her wealth! In just one hour she has been destroyed!’

“ Babylon will be captured! The whole earth was very proud of it. But it will be taken over by others! It will be a deserted place among the nations.Babylon’s enemies will sweep over it like an ocean. Like roaring waves they will cover it.The towns of Babylon will be empty. It will become a dry and desert land. No one will live there. No one will even travel through it.
