这些只是关于饮食和各样洁净的礼仪，是在“更新的时候”来到之前，为肉体立的规例。

只要写信叫他们禁戒偶像的污秽、淫乱，勒死的牲畜和血。因为自古以来，在各城里都有人宣讲摩西的书，每逢安息日，在各会堂里都有人诵读。”

我说：‘主啊，千万不可，因为俗物或不洁的东西，从来没有进过我的口。’第二次又有声音从天上回答：‘神所洁净的，你不可当作俗物。’这样一连三次之后，所有的东西都拉回天上去了。

毒蛇所生的啊，你们既然是邪恶的，怎能说出良善的话？因为心中所充满的，口里就说出来。

你们不要被各样怪异的教训勾引去了。人心靠着恩典，而不是靠着食物得到坚定，才是好的；因为那些拘守食物的人，从来没有得过益处。

他们禁止嫁娶，禁戒食物。食物本是神所造的，是给信主和认识真理的人存感谢的心领受的。因为凡神所造的，都是好的，只要存感谢的心领受，没有一样是可以弃绝的；都因着神的道和人的祈求成为圣洁了。

他对他们说：“连你们也是这样不明白吗？难道不知道从外面进去的，不能使人污秽吗？因为不是进到他的心，而是进到他的肚腹，再排泄到外面（“外面”或译：“厕所”）去。”（他这样说是表示各样食物都是洁净的。）接着他又说：“从人里面出来的，才会使人污秽。因为从里面，就是从人的心里，发出恶念、淫乱、偷盗、凶杀、奸淫、贪心、邪恶、诡诈、放荡、嫉妒、毁谤、骄傲、愚妄；这一切恶事，是从人里面出来的，都能使人污秽。”

肉食市场所卖的一切，你们只管吃，不要为了良心的缘故问什么，
