And do you not remember?When I broke the five loaves for the 5,000, how many baskets full of pieces of bread did you collect?”“ Twelve,” they told Him.“ When I broke the seven loaves for the 4,000, how many large baskets full of pieces of bread did you collect?”“ Seven,” they said.And He said to them,“ Don’t you understand yet?”

Later, He appeared to the Eleven themselves as they were reclining at the table. He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who saw Him after He had been resurrected.

Why, Yahweh, do You make us stray from Your ways? You harden our hearts so we do not fear You. Return, because of Your servants, the tribes of Your heritage.

After looking around at them with anger and sorrow at the hardness of their hearts, He told the man,“ Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out, and his hand was restored.

He said to them,“ How unwise and slow you are to believe in your hearts all that the prophets have spoken!

And He said to them,“ Are you also as lacking in understanding? Don’t you realize that nothing going into a man from the outside can defile him?

Don’t you understand yet? Don’t you remember the five loaves for the 5,000 and how many baskets you collected?Or the seven loaves for the 4,000 and how many large baskets you collected?Why is it you don’t understand that when I told you,‘ Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees,’ it wasn’t about bread?”

What then? Israel did not find what it was looking for, but the elect did find it. The rest were hardened,
