Again Jesus began to teach by the lake. The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake, while all the people were along the shore at the water’s edge.

有許多羣眾聚攏來，有從一城一城出來的人陸續走到耶穌那裏，耶穌就用比喻說：『有一個撒種的出去撒播他的種子；撒的時候、有的落在路旁，被踐踏；空中的飛鳥把它喫盡了。另有別的落在磐石上，長起來；因為得不着滋潤，就枯乾了。另有別的落在荊棘中；荊棘一同長起來，把它悶住了。另有別的落到好土裏，就長起來，結了實、一百倍。』耶穌說了這些話，就大聲說：『有耳可聽的、應當聽。』門徒問耶穌這比喻有甚麼意思。耶穌說：『上帝國的奧祕是給你們知道的；對於其他的人呢、就用比喻，使他們看是看，卻看不見；聽是聽，卻不曉悟！

當那一天、耶穌從屋子裏出來，在海邊坐着；有一大羣人聚集到他那裏，他只得上船坐下，全羣的人都站在灘上。他就用比喻對他們講許多道理，說：『看哪，有一個撒種的出去撒種。撒的時候、有的落在路旁；飛鳥一來，把它喫盡了。另有的落在石頭地上，沒有許多土的地方；因沒有深的土，它雖很快長出苗來，日頭出來，就曬焦了；因為沒有根，便枯乾了。另有的落在荊棘上；荊棘長起來，把它悶住了。另有的落在好土上，結着果實，有的一百倍，有的六十倍，有的三十倍。有耳的應當聽。』門徒上前來，對耶穌說：『你對眾人說話，為甚麼用比喻呢？』耶穌回答他們說：『天國的奧祕是給你們知道，而不是給那些人的。因為凡有的，還要給他，他就充足有餘；凡沒有的，連他所有的也要從他手裏被奪去。我用比喻對他們說話，是因為他們看卻看不見，聽卻聽不見，也不領悟。以賽亞所傳講的神言、正應驗在他們身上了；他說：「你們要聽了又聽，卻決不領悟；要看了又看，卻決看不見。因為這人民的心給脂油蒙住了；他們以沉重的耳來聽，又把眼閉着；恐怕他們用眼看見，用耳聽見，用心領悟，回轉過來，讓我醫治他們！」

耶穌同門徒退到海邊去；有屬於加利利的一大羣眾人跟着；
