James son of Zebedee and his brother John( to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means“ sons of thunder”),

There were James, son of Zebedee, and his brother John. Jesus gave them the name Boanerges. Boanerges means Sons of Thunder.

James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James( to whom he gave the name Boanerges, that is, Sons of Thunder);

James and John( the sons of Zebedee, but Jesus nicknamed them“ Sons of Thunder”),

After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them. (niv)

It was about this time that King Herod arrested some who belonged to the church, intending to persecute them. (niv)

When he had gone a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat, preparing their nets.Without delay he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him. (niv)

He took Peter, James and John along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled. (niv)

Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him.“ Teacher,” they said,“ we want you to do for us whatever we ask.” (niv)

Simon Peter, Thomas( also known as Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together. (niv)

Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them.( This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said,“ Lord, who is going to betray you?”)When Peter saw him, he asked,“ Lord, what about him?”Jesus answered,“ If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.”Because of this, the rumor spread among the believers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said,“ If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?”This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written. (niv)

He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James. (niv)

Then I was told,“ You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, languages and kings.” (niv)
