On hearing this, Jesus said to them,“ It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Jesus heard that. So he said to them,“ Those who are healthy don’t need a doctor. Sick people do. I have not come to get those who think they are right with God to follow me. I have come to get sinners to follow me.”

And when Jesus heard it, he said to them,“ Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

When Jesus heard this, he told them,“ Healthy people don’t need a doctor— sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”

耶穌聞之曰、康強者不需醫士、惟患病者需之、經云、我欲矜恤、不欲祭祀、此言何意、爾且往學之、蓋我來、非招義人、乃招罪人悔改、有原文古抄本無悔改二字○

耶穌謂之曰、剛強者不需醫士、負病者需之、我來非召義人、乃召罪人悔改也、

我告爾有一罪人悔改、則在天亦為之喜、較為九十九不須悔改之義人、喜尤大也、

蓋人子來、為尋救失亡之人也、○

基督耶穌臨世、以救罪人、此言可信、人當悅納者、罪人中我本元惡、然我蒙矜恤、乃因耶穌基督欲先於我身顯其一切恆忍、使後之信主得永生者、以我為模範、

昔我儕亦無知、背逆、迷惑、役於嗜慾及諸淫佚、常行暴很媢嫉之事、且為人所惡、而彼此相惡、惟我救主天主矜憐仁愛顯著之時、拯救我、非由我行義之功、乃由其矜恤、使我受洗重生、賜我聖神以復新、原文作拯救我非由我行義之功乃由重生之洗與聖神之復新而救我儕聖神乃天主因我救主耶穌基督、厚賜我儕、使我賴其恩寵而得稱義、希望為嗣子得永生、

惡人當離其途、不義者當屏除其謀、其謀或作私念歸誠於主、主必矜恤之、當歸誠於我天主、蓋天主廣行赦宥、

旁有數法利賽人聞此言、謂耶穌曰、我儕亦瞽乎、

律法立、致罪增益、然罪增益之處、恩寵更裕、罪操權以致死亡、恩寵因義操權以致永生、皆賴我主耶穌基督而然也、

豈不知不義之人、必不得天主之國、勿自欺、凡行淫者、拜偶像者、姦人妻者、為孌童者、親男色者、盜竊者、沈湎者、詬詈者、勒索者、皆不得天主國、爾中有人、素亦如是、今賴主耶穌基督之名、及我天主之神、得洗滌成聖稱義、○

長子對父曰、我事父多年、未嘗違命、父未以羔賜我、俾我與友同樂、

我儕無力時、基督於所定之期、為罪人死、夫為義人死者、鮮有之、為仁人為仁人或作為善事死、或有敢焉、乃基督於我儕尚為罪人時、為我而死、天主以此彰其愛我之愛、

主曰、爾曹皆來、我與爾明辨、爾罪雖如硃色、必將白如雪、雖紅如絳、必將白如羊毛、或作爾曹皆來我與爾明辨爾罪雖顯如硃紅我必使之白如雪雖紅如丹顏我必使之白如羊毛

慎毋輕視此小子之一、我告爾、彼之天使在天、常見我天父之面、

我告爾、有一罪人悔改、則在天主使者前、亦為之喜、○

耶穌謂之曰、爾在人前、自稱為義、但天主知爾之心、蓋人所崇者、天主所惡也、

眾謂之曰、爾全身生於罪中、而反教我乎、遂逐之出、

乃先於大瑪色、次於耶路撒冷及猶太徧地、後在異邦、勸人當悔改、歸天主、而行事以彰悔改、

勸猶太人希拉人悔改、歸天主、信我主耶穌基督、

彼為我儕舍己、以贖我儕出於諸惡、亦潔我儕為其選民、熱心為善、
