但這些話在使徒們聽來顯着像胡說；他們對那些婦女是取了不信態度的。

他們去報告其餘的人；那些人也不信。後來、十一個人坐席的時候、耶穌向他們顯現，斥責他們的不信和硬心，因為他們不信那些在他活起來以後見了他的人。

見不着耶穌的身體，就來，說她們竟看見了天使的顯象；天使說耶穌還活着。我們的同伴有幾個人往墳墓那裏去。所遇見的果然像婦女們所說的；至於耶穌呢、他們卻沒有看見。』耶穌就對他們說：『咳，無知的人哪，對神言人所說的一切話、心遲笨而難信的人哪！基督受這些苦，而進入他的榮耀，豈不是應該的麼？』就開始從摩西、從眾神言人起、把全部經典裏所記關於自己的事、都給他們解釋了。將近他們所要去的村子，耶穌略作要往前走的樣子。他們卻強留他說：『請同我們住下吧，因為將近晚上了，日頭已經平西了。』耶穌就進去，要同他們住下。正同他們坐席的時候，耶穌就拿着餅、祝頌擘開，遞給他們。他們的眼睛敞開了，這才認出他來；而耶穌竟從他們眼前不見了。他們就彼此說：『當他在路上和我們說話，給我們開講經典的時候，我們心裏豈不是熱烘烘燃燒着麼？』就在那一刻，他們就起身，回耶路撒冷去；便看見那十一個人和他們的同伴正集合在一起談論着說：『主真地活了起來，已經現給西門看見了。』兩個人就把路上的事、以及擘餅時怎樣給他們認出來的事、都述說了。

耶穌回答他們說：『噯，沒有信心的世代啊，我跟你們在一起要到幾時呢？我容忍你們要到幾時呢？帶他來找我吧。』

我若呼求，而他若應我，我還是不信他側耳聽我的聲音。

摩西這樣告訴以色列人，以色列人卻因了心裏着急、又因了很難作的苦工、不肯聽摩西的話。
