In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the law mocked him among themselves.“ He saved others,” they said,“ but he can’t save himself!

群眾站著觀看，官長們嗤笑說：“他救了別人，如果他是基督，是神所揀選的，讓他救自己吧！”士兵也上前戲弄他，拿酸酒給他喝，說：“如果你是猶太人的王，救你自己吧！”

祭司長、經學家和長老也同樣譏笑他，說：“他救了別人，卻不能救自己。如果他是以色列的王，現在可以從十字架上下來，我們就信他。他信靠神；如果神喜悅他，就讓神現在救他吧，因為他說自己是神的兒子。”

犬類圍著我，惡黨環繞我，他們扎了（按照《馬索拉文本》，“他們扎了”作“像獅子”；現參照《七十士譯本》等古譯本翻譯）我的手我的腳。我能數算我全身的骨頭，他們卻瞪著眼看我。

於是祭司長和法利賽人召開公議會，說：“這個人行了許多神蹟，我們怎麼辦呢？我們若讓他這樣，所有的人都會信他，羅馬人就會來，奪取我們的聖地，除滅我們的民族。”他們當中有一位該亞法，是那年作大祭司的，對他們說：“你們甚麼都不知道，也不去想想，一個人代替人民死，免得整個民族滅亡，這對你們是有益的。”他說這話不是由於自己，而是因為他是那年的大祭司，所以預言耶穌要替猶太民族死；不但替猶太民族死，也要把散居各地的神的兒女招聚成為一體。

列國為甚麼騷動？萬民為甚麼空謀妄想？世上的君王起來，首領聚在一起，敵對耶和華和他所膏立的，說：“我們來掙斷他們給我們的束縛，擺脫他們的繩索！”那坐在天上的必發笑，主必譏笑他們。

如果神的旨意是要你們受苦，那麼為行善受苦，總比為行惡受苦好。因為基督也曾一次為你們的罪死了，就是義的代替不義的，為要領你們到神面前。就肉體的方面說，他曾死去；就靈的方面說，他復活了；

耶穌對他們說：“人子得榮耀的時候到了！我實實在在告訴你們，一粒麥子若不落在地裡死了，仍舊是一粒；如果死了，就結出許多果實來。
