祭司諸長、及經士、亦如此戲之、相語曰、彼救他人、不能自救、

大司祭及經生輩亦相與肆其嘲弄曰：『何彼之善於救人、而拙於救己也！

In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the law mocked him among themselves.“ He saved others,” they said,“ but he can’t save himself!

So also the chief priests with the scribes mocked him to one another, saying,“ He saved others; he cannot save himself.

The leading priests and teachers of religious law also mocked Jesus.“ He saved others,” they scoffed,“ but he can’t save himself!

In like manner also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,He saved others; himself he cannot save. He is the King of Israel; let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe on him.He trusteth on God; let him deliver him now, if he desireth him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

For dogs have compassed me: A company of evil- doers have inclosed me; They pierced my hands and my feet.I may count all my bones. They look and stare upon me;

The chief priests therefore and the Pharisees gathered a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many signs.If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.But a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,nor do ye take account that it is expedient for you that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.Now this he said not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for the nation;and not for the nation only, but that he might also gather together into one the children of God that are scattered abroad.

Why do the nations rage, And the peoples meditate a vain thing?The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against Jehovah, and against his anointed, saying,Let us break their bonds asunder, And cast away their cords from us.He that sitteth in the heavens will laugh: The Lord will have them in derision.

For it is better, if the will of God should so will, that ye suffer for well- doing than for evil- doing.Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God; being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;

And Jesus answereth them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a grain of wheat fall into the earth and die, it abideth by itself alone; but if it die, it beareth much fruit.
