He began to call down curses, and he swore to them,“ I don’t know this man you’re talking about.”

Then Peter began to curse. He said to them,“ I don’t know this man you’re talking about!”

But he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear,“ I do not know this man of whom you speak.”

Peter swore,“ A curse on me if I’m lying— I don’t know this man you’re talking about!”

Then he started to curse and swear,“ I don’t know this man you’re talking about!”

But he began to curse himself and to swear,“ I do not know this man of whom you speak!”

Then he began to curse and swear,“ I do not know this Man of whom you speak!”

But he began to curse, and to swear, I know not this man of whom ye speak.

When Ben-Hadad asked,“ What did Elisha say to you?” Hazael replied,“ He told me that you would certainly recover.”But the next day he took a thick cloth, soaked it in water and spread it over the king’s face, so that he died. Then Hazael succeeded him as king. (niv)

In those days the Lord began to reduce the size of Israel. Hazael overpowered the Israelites throughout their territory (niv)
