“ This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many,” he said to them.

Moses then took the blood, sprinkled it on the people and said,“ This is the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words.” (niv)

As for you, because of the blood of my covenant with you, I will free your prisoners from the waterless pit. (niv)

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.And they cried out in a loud voice:“ Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.”All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,saying:“ Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!”Then one of the elders asked me,“ These in white robes— who are they, and where did they come from?”I answered,“ Sir, you know.” And he said,“ These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.Therefore,“ they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.‘ Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them,’ nor any scorching heat.For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd;‘ he will lead them to springs of living water.’‘ And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’” (niv)

In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying,“ This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” (niv)

Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? (niv)

And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty- four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.And they sang a new song, saying:“ You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.” (niv)

For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance— now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.In the case of a will, it is necessary to prove the death of the one who made it,because a will is in force only when somebody has died; it never takes effect while the one who made it is living.This is why even the first covenant was not put into effect without blood.When Moses had proclaimed every command of the law to all the people, he took the blood of calves, together with water, scarlet wool and branches of hyssop, and sprinkled the scroll and all the people.He said,“ This is the blood of the covenant, which God has commanded you to keep.”In the same way, he sprinkled with the blood both the tabernacle and everything used in its ceremonies.In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.It was necessary, then, for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. (niv)

Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep,equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. (niv)

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (niv)

Jesus said to them,“ Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. (niv)
