But had he taken warning, he would have saved his life.But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the horn and the people are not warned, and a sword comes and takes a person from them, he is taken away for his wrongdoing; but I will require his blood from the watchman’s hand.’“ Now as for you, son of man, I have appointed you as a watchman for the house of Israel; so you will hear a message from My mouth and give them a warning from Me.When I say to the wicked,‘ You wicked person, you will certainly die,’ and you do not speak to warn the wicked about his way, that wicked person shall die for his wrongdoing, but I will require his blood from your hand.But if you on your part warn a wicked person to turn from his way and he does not turn from his way, he will die for his wrongdoing, but you have saved your life.

“ Who then is the faithful and sensible slave whom his master put in charge of his household slaves, to give them their food at the proper time?Blessed is that slave whom his master finds so doing when he comes.Truly I say to you that he will put him in charge of all his possessions.

I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock;and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things to draw away the disciples after them.Therefore, be on the alert, remembering that night and day for a period of three years I did not cease to admonish each one with tears.

You are also to be like people who are waiting for their master when he returns from the wedding feast, so that they may immediately open the door for him when he comes and knocks.Blessed are those slaves whom the master will find on the alert when he comes; truly I say to you, that he will prepare himself to serve, and have them recline at the table, and he will come up and serve them.Whether he comes in the second watch, or even in the third, and finds them so, blessed are those slaves.“ But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have allowed his house to be broken into.You too, be ready; because the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not think He will.”

knowing that it is from the Lord that you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.

“ Son of man, I have appointed you as a watchman for the house of Israel; whenever you hear a word from My mouth, warn them from Me.When I say to the wicked,‘ You will certainly die,’ and you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way so that he may live, that wicked person shall die for wrongdoing, but his blood I will require from your hand.However if you have warned the wicked and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his wicked way, he shall die for wrongdoing, but you have saved yourself.Again, when a righteous person turns away from his righteousness and commits sin, and I place an obstacle before him, he will die; since you have not warned him, he shall die in his sin, and his righteous deeds which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require from your hand.However, if you have warned the righteous person that the righteous is not to sin, and he does not sin, he shall certainly live because he took warning; and you have saved yourself.”

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit.And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord.There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons.But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit;to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues.But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.For just as the body is one and yet has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ.For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.For the body is not one part, but many.If the foot says,“ Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason any less a part of the body.And if the ear says,“ Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason any less a part of the body.If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were hearing, where would the sense of smell be?But now God has arranged the parts, each one of them in the body, just as He desired.If they were all one part, where would the body be?But now there are many parts, but one body.And the eye cannot say to the hand,“ I have no need of you”; or again, the head to the feet,“ I have no need of you.”On the contrary, it is much truer that the parts of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary;and those parts of the body which we consider less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor, and our less presentable parts become much more presentable,whereas our more presentable parts have no need of it. But God has so composed the body, giving more abundant honor to that part which lacked,so that there may be no division in the body, but that the parts may have the same care for one another.And if one part of the body suffers, all the parts suffer with it; if a part is honored, all the parts rejoice with it.Now you are Christ’s body, and individually parts of it.And God has appointed in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, and various kinds of tongues.All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All are not workers of miracles, are they?All do not have gifts of healings, do they? All do not speak with tongues, do they? All do not interpret, do they?But earnestly desire the greater gifts. And yet, I am going to show you a far better way.

“ And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: He who is holy, who is true, who has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, and who shuts and no one opens, says this:

So He said,“ A nobleman went to a distant country to receive a kingdom for himself, and then to return.And he called ten of his own slaves and gave them ten minas, and said to them,‘ Do business with this money until I come back.’But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying,‘ We do not want this man to reign over us.’When he returned after receiving the kingdom, he ordered that these slaves, to whom he had given the money, be summoned to him so that he would learn how much they had made by the business they had done.The first slave appeared, saying,‘ Master, your mina has made ten minas more.’And he said to him,‘ Well done, good slave; since you have been faithful in a very little thing, you are to have authority over ten cities.’

For just as we have many parts in one body and all the body’s parts do not have the same function,so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually parts of one another.However, since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to use them properly: if prophecy, in proportion to one’s faith;if service, in the act of serving; or the one who teaches, in the act of teaching;or the one who exhorts, in the work of exhortation; the one who gives, with generosity; the one who is in leadership, with diligence; the one who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, even as the Lord gave opportunity to each one.I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth.So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth.Now the one who plants and the one who waters are one; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor.For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each person must be careful how he builds on it.

Masters, grant your slaves justice and fairness, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.

For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulers are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing.
