Whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.

伯鐸祿既感聖神、對曰：『民之有司及諸長老！爾曹若為吾儕施恩於殘廢之人、而欲一究其全復之由、則爾與義塞民當知納匝勒人耶穌基督、即爾曹所釘於十字架者、天主已賜以復活。此人之所以能獲康復而挺立於爾前者、賴耶穌之名也。耶穌者即「梓人所棄、竟成隅石」者是。舍彼而外、別無救主；普天之下、更無其他名義、可恃以獲救恩。』眾見伯鐸祿若望侃侃而談、且識其為不學小民、素樸之人、皆不勝驚訝、意必曾親炙耶穌者、復睹跛者挺然與之並立、無可置辯、命暫退。互議曰：『是二人者、何以處之？彼所行者、顯係神蹟、耶路撒冷居民未有不悉其事者、自難否認、第恐流傳益廣、當加以警誡、使勿再奉耶穌之名以訓人。』復召之至、如議戒之；伯鐸祿若望曰：『順爾旨而背天主、爾自分於理有當否？凡吾輩所見所聞、不得不言也。』有司格於輿情、未敢加責、乃警而釋之。蓋眾睹奇行、咸尊天主、且因神蹟而獲痊者、其年已逾四十矣。

且吾人論述天主之事、不假人智之術語、而悉循聖神之默啟、亦欲以心明心、以神會神而已。

自有世以來、斯玄妙之旨、未曾啟迪於人。今則已因聖神而明示其諸聖宗徒、及先知先覺之人矣。

爾當戒慎、爾將因予之故、被人執交公會、撻於會堂、解至王侯之前、以證吾道。

彼等且逆知其所預言諸事、非為本身、乃為爾等。凡此奧義、即眾天神亦渴欲一窺、而爾曹則因布道者憑天主所遣聖神之靈感、而得諦聽矣

眾遂飽受聖神、各依聖神所賦、而道異國方言。

如望應曰：『苟非自天授之、人亦何所受乎？

禱畢、大地震動、眾感聖神、無不昌言天主之道焉。

亦為予祈求辯才無礙、俾能以大無畏精神、闡發福音之蘊奧。蓋我已為福音之故而成為被鍊加鎖之星使。果能不為威武所屈、侃侃而談、庶幾不辱使命、是所至願也。

若爾中有人智慧不足、則當求之天主、終必如願以償；蓋天主賜人至厚、博愛慈祥、而不事呵叱也。

與會者無不注目視之、見其道貌岸然、一如天神。

謹防世人、人將送爾於公會、撻爾於會堂、

亞伯漢意灑格雅各伯之天主、吾列祖之天主、厥子耶穌、已蒙榮寵。此即爾曹曩日執交比辣多、比辣多意欲釋之、

司諦文充滿聖神凝視上天、見天主榮耀、又見耶穌立於天主之右，
