And in his teaching he said, Beware of the scribes, who desire to walk in long robes, and to have salutations in the marketplaces,

And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and[ love] salutations in the marketplaces,

In his teaching Jesus also said,“ Watch out for the experts in the law. They like walking around in long robes and elaborate greetings in the marketplaces,

In his teaching he said to them,“ Beware of the scribes, who like to walk in long robes, and to get greetings in the marketplaces,

那时，耶稣对众人和门徒讲论，说：“文士和法利赛人坐在摩西的位上，凡他们所吩咐你们的，你们都要谨守遵行。但不要效法他们的行为；因为他们能说，不能行。他们把难担的重担捆起来，搁在人的肩上，但自己一个指头也不肯动。他们一切所做的事都是要叫人看见，所以将佩戴的经文做宽了，衣裳的繸子做长了，喜爱筵席上的首座，会堂里的高位，又喜爱人在街市上问他安，称呼他拉比。

你们法利赛人有祸了！因为你们喜爱会堂里的首位，又喜爱人在街市上问你们的安。

众百姓听的时候，耶稣对门徒说：“你们要防备文士。他们好穿长衣游行，喜爱人在街市上问他们安，又喜爱会堂里的高位，筵席上的首座；他们侵吞寡妇的家产，假意作很长的祷告。这些人要受更重的刑罚！”

“你们祷告的时候，不可像那假冒为善的人，爱站在会堂里和十字路口上祷告，故意叫人看见。我实在告诉你们，他们已经得了他们的赏赐。

耶稣就用比喻教训他们许多道理。在教训之间，对他们说：

你们要防备人；因为他们要把你们交给公会，也要在会堂里鞭打你们，

耶稣见所请的客拣择首位，就用比喻对他们说：“你被人请去赴婚姻的筵席，不要坐在首位上，恐怕有比你尊贵的客被他请来；那请你们的人前来对你说：‘让座给这一位吧！’你就羞羞惭惭地退到末位上去了。你被请的时候，就去坐在末位上，好叫那请你的人来对你说：‘朋友，请上座。’那时，你在同席的人面前就有光彩了。因为，凡自高的，必降为卑；自卑的，必升为高。”
