耶穌對他們說：「摩西因著你們的心裡剛硬，才給你們定下這條誡命。

耶穌曰、以爾心頑、故書斯命予爾、

耶穌曰、摩西以爾心忍、故有斯命、

耶穌曰、摩西以爾心忍、故有此命、

耶穌曰：『摩西以爾心如鐵石、故為爾書此誡命、非得已也。

“ It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law,” Jesus replied.

“ You were stubborn. That’s why Moses wrote you this law,” Jesus replied.

And Jesus said to them,“ Because of your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment.

But Jesus responded,“ He wrote this commandment only as a concession to your hard hearts.

But Jesus told them,“ He wrote this command for you because of the hardness of your hearts.

And Jesus answered and said to them,“ Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.

“‘但我们的祖先行事狂傲，硬着颈项不听从你的诫命。他们不肯顺从，也不记念你在他们中间所行的奇事，竟硬着颈项，居心悖逆，自立领袖，要回埃及他们为奴之地。但你是乐意饶恕人，有恩惠，有怜悯，不轻易发怒，有丰盛慈爱的上帝，并没有丢弃他们。

“你们这硬着颈项，心与耳未受割礼的人哪，时常抗拒圣灵！你们的祖宗怎样，你们也怎样。

“‘然而，他们不顺从，竟背叛你，将你的律法丢在背后，又杀害那些劝他们回转归向你的众先知，犯了亵渎的大罪。

耶稣说：“摩西因为你们的心硬，所以准许你们休妻，但起初并不是这样。

所以，正如圣灵所说：“今日，你们若听他的话，就不可硬着心，像在背叛之时，就如在旷野受试探之日。在那里，你们的祖宗试探我，并且观看我的作为，有四十年之久。所以，我厌烦那世代，说：他们的心常常迷糊，竟不知道我的道路！

因为我知道你们是悖逆的，是硬着颈项的。看哪，我今日还活着与你们同在，你们尚且悖逆耶和华，何况我死后呢？

“你当知道，耶和华—你的上帝将这美地赐你为业，并不是因你的义；你本是硬着颈项的百姓。
