You will eat but not be satisfied; your stomach will still be empty. You will store up but save nothing, because what you save I will give to the sword.

You will eat. But you will not be satisfied. Your stomachs will still be empty. You will try to save what you can. But you will not be able to. If you do save something, it will be destroyed in battle.

You shall eat, but not be satisfied, and there shall be hunger within you; you shall put away, but not preserve, and what you preserve I will give to the sword.

他又對我說：『人子啊，看吧，我必折斷耶路撒冷中糧食的支杖；他們喫飯要按分兩、懷着掛慮的心情喫；他們喝水也要按分量驚慌慌地喝。我要這樣作，是要使他們缺乏糧食和水而彼此驚駭，在他們自己的罪罰中而消削淨盡。

你的三分之一必在你中間因瘟疫而死，因饑荒而消滅；三分之一必在你四圍倒斃於刀下；三分之一我必給四散於四方；我還要拔刀追趕他們。

地上的居民哪，恐怖、陷坑、機檻、都臨到你身上了！將來那躲避恐怖聲的、必墜入陷坑；那從陷坑中上來的、必被機檻纏住；因為高天的罅隙都開了，地的根基也震動了。地全然被打破，盡都崩裂，大大震顫。地東倒西歪、像醉酒的人，搖來搖去、好像吊床；它的罪過沉重在它上頭，它塌陷下去，不能再起。

人在他族弟兄的父家裏抓住那人說：『你有外披，你可以做我們的獨裁者，這敗落堆就可以歸你手下處理』，那時他必揚聲說：『我不做綁紮創傷的，因為我家裏沒有糧食，也沒有外披；你們不要立我做人民的獨裁者。』因為耶路撒冷敗落，猶大仆倒、是因他們的口舌和行為都跟永恆主作對，挑激了他威榮之眼目。

因此主永恆主這麼說：『看吧，我的僕人必有的喫，但你們呢，卻要饑餓；看吧，我的僕人必有的喝，但你們呢，卻要乾渴；看吧，我的僕人必歡喜，但你們呢，卻要蒙羞；

他們用南地的牲畜馱財物，經過艱難困苦之地，有公獅、母獅、蝮蛇和能飛的火蛇之地，把資財馱在驢駒的脊背上，將寶物馱在駱駝的肉鞍上，到無益的族民那裏去。

輕快者逃走的路都斷絕，有大力的不能運用其力，剛勇的不能搭救自己；操縱弓箭的不能站立着，腿輕快的不能逃脫，騎馬的也不能搭救自己；勇士中最有膽力的當那日也必赤身逃跑』：永恆主發神諭說。

人右邊割肉喫，仍然饑餓；左邊吞喫，仍不覺得飽：各人竟喫自己膀臂的肉；

『因為我怒氣中有火燒起，直燒到陰間之最低處，把地和地的土產都燒滅掉，連山的根基也燒𤏲了。『「我必將災禍加在他們身上，把我的箭向他們射盡。叫他們被饑荒所嗍乾，被高熱症和苦毒病所吞滅；我必打發野獸的牙齒去咬他們，跟塵土中蛇類的毒素去害他們。外頭有刀劍、內室有恐怖，使壯丁和處女、喫奶的同白髮的、盡都喪亡。

你們撒種，倒撒的多，收入的卻少；你們喫，卻喫不飽；喝，卻喝不足；有得穿，卻穿不暖；得了工錢，卻把工錢裝到刺破的口袋裏！

那逃避恐怖的、必墜入陷坑；那從陷坑中上來的、必被機檻纏住；因為當他們被察罰的年日我必使這些災禍臨到摩押：這是永恆主發神諭說的。

你們怎麼樣？那時有人到二十斗穀堆的田地，只得了十斗；有人到酒池旁，想舀到五十窟，只舀到二十窟。

我看見主站在祭壇旁；他說：『你要擊打柱頂，使門檻震動，要把其頭頂都砍掉；其餘留的、我必用刀殺掉，沒有能逃掉的，沒有一個能逃脫的。『即使他們挖到了陰間，就是從那裏、我的手也必把他們捉出來；即使他們爬上天去，就是從那裏、我也必將他們拿下來。即使他們藏在迦密山頂，就是從那裏、我也必搜尋去捉出來；即使他們隱藏在海底、離開我眼前，就是從那裏、我也必吩咐蛇去咬他們。即使他們被仇敵擄去、流亡外國，就是從那裏、我也必吩咐刀劍去殺戮他們；我必拿眼瞪着他們，是要降禍，不是降福。』
