Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted,“ Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder,“ Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”

“ Lord, have mercy on my son,” he said.“ He has seizures and is suffering greatly. He often falls into the fire or into the water.

The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.

He called out,“ Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus( which means“ son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging.When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout,“ Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more,“ Son of David, have mercy on me!”

“ Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!”“ Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,“ What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?”“ The son of David,” they replied.He said to them,“ How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit, calls him‘ Lord’? For he says,“‘ The Lord said to my Lord:“ Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.”’If then David calls him‘ Lord,’ how can he be his son?”

The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,“ Hosanna to the Son of David!”“ Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”“ Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham:

Does not Scripture say that the Messiah will come from David’s descendants and from Bethlehem, the town where David lived?”

At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind.

They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him.He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked,“ Do you see anything?”

“ It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”

While Jesus was teaching in the temple courts, he asked,“ Why do the teachers of the law say that the Messiah is the son of David?David himself, speaking by the Holy Spirit, declared:“‘ The Lord said to my Lord:“ Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.”’David himself calls him‘ Lord.’ How then can he be his son?” The large crowd listened to him with delight.

Then they brought him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that he could both talk and see.All the people were astonished and said,“ Could this be the Son of David?”

But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts,“ Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant.

Then Jesus said to them,“ Why is it said that the Messiah is the son of David?

and called out in a loud voice,“ Jesus, Master, have pity on us!”

Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.

As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth.His disciples asked him,“ Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”“ Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus,“ but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes.“ Go,” he told him,“ wash in the Pool of Siloam”( this word means“ Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked,“ Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?”Some claimed that he was. Others said,“ No, he only looks like him.” But he himself insisted,“ I am the man.”“ How then were your eyes opened?” they asked.He replied,“ The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.”“ Where is this man?” they asked him.“ I don’t know,” he said.
