虽然我原先是亵渎神的、逼迫人的、侮慢人的，但是我却蒙了怜悯，因为我是在不信、不明白的时候做的；而且我们主的恩典，随着在基督耶稣里的信心和爱心，格外增多。“基督耶稣来到这世界，为要拯救罪人。”这话是信实的，值得完全接受。在罪人中我是首恶，但我之所以蒙了怜悯，是因为基督耶稣要在我这首恶身上显出他一切的耐心，为那些将要信靠他而进入永恒生命的人做榜样。

其实你们如果只爱那些爱你们的人，会有什么报偿呢？连税吏不也这样做吗？你们如果只问候自己的兄弟，这样做有什么特别呢？连外邦人不也这样做吗？
