他們到了格迦薩人的地區，就是加利利的對面。耶穌一出來，上了岸，就有一個城裏的人、有鬼附着的、迎面而來。這個人好久不穿衣裳，不住房屋，只住在塋墓中間。他看見了耶穌，就高聲喊叫起來，拜倒在他面前，大聲說：『至高上帝的兒子耶穌，我與你何干？祈求你別使我受苦痛哦。』因為耶穌曾囑咐污靈從那人身上出來。原來那污靈曾經多次抓住了他；他是常被看守着，又用鎖鍊和腳鐐捆鎖好的；他竟把所捆鎖的掙斷，被鬼催迫到野地來了。耶穌問他說：『你名叫甚麼？』他說：『軍團』，因為有許多鬼進他裏面。鬼求耶穌不要吩咐他們往無底坑去。那裏有好大羣的豬正在山上餵着；鬼就求耶穌准他們進豬裏面去。他准了他們。鬼就從那人身上出來，進入豬裏面；那一羣闖下山崖、到湖裏去，淹死了。餵的人看見所發生的事，就逃跑，在城裏在鄉下傳報開了。眾人就出來，要看所發生的事；到了耶穌那裏，看見鬼所由出的那人穿着衣裳、神志清明、坐在耶穌腳旁，他們就害怕。看見的人將那被鬼附過的人怎樣地得救治、告訴他們。格迦薩周圍地區所有的眾民、因被大懼怕所困迫、就求耶穌離開他們。耶穌便上船回去了。鬼所由出的那人祈求耶穌、要跟他在一起；耶穌卻打發他走，說：『回你家去，敘說上帝為你作了多麼大的事。』那人就去，在全城裏各處宣傳耶穌為他作了多麼大的事。

他們到了海那邊，到格拉森人的地區。耶穌一從船上出來，就有一個在污靈控制中的人從墳墓裏出來，迎着他來着。那個人把塋墓中間當做住所；再沒有人能捆住他，就是用鎖鍊也不能；因為他屢次被腳鐐和鎖鍊捆住，鎖鍊竟被他折斷了，腳鐐也弄碎了；總沒有人能使他馴服。黑夜白日、他時常在塋墓中山中喊叫，用石頭割傷自己。他從遠處看見耶穌，就跑來拜他，大聲喊着說：『至高上帝的兒子耶穌，我與你何干？我指着上帝誓求你，不要使我受苦痛哦。』因為耶穌曾對他說過：『污靈，從這人身上出來！』耶穌問他說：『你名叫甚麼？』他對他說：『我名叫「軍團」，因為我們眾多。』就再三求耶穌不要遣送他們離開那地區。在那裏山坡上、有一大羣豬正在餵着。污靈求耶穌說：『打發我們到豬裏面去吧，好讓我們進入牠們裏面。』耶穌准了他們，污靈就出來，進入豬裏面；那一羣闖下山崖，到海裏去，約有二千，都溺死在海裏了。餵豬的逃跑了，在城裏在鄉下傳報開了。他們就來，要看所發生的是甚麼事。來到耶穌那裏，見那被鬼附過的、那有過「軍團」鬼附着的、坐在那裏，穿着衣裳，神志清明，就害怕。看見的人將那被鬼附者所遭遇的怎樣、以及豬的事、都對他們敘說了。他們就求耶穌離開他們的境界。耶穌上船的時候，那被鬼附過的人求耶穌讓他跟隨着他。耶穌不許他，卻對他說：『往你家去，到你親屬那裏，將主為你所作多麼大的事、並怎樣地憐恤你、都傳報他們。』那人起身去，就在十邑區宣傳耶穌為他作了多麼大的事；眾人都希奇。

論到拿撒勒的耶穌，上帝怎樣將聖靈和能力膏了他。他走遍四方行善事，醫好了一切被魔鬼壓制的人，因為上帝和他同在。

他的名聲傳出去，到了全敍利亞；人把一切有病的、給各種疾病疼痛困迫的、被鬼附的、癲癇的、癱瘓的、都帶了來；耶穌都治好了他們。
