He replied,“ You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

He replied,“ Your faith is so small! Why are you so afraid?” Then Jesus got up and ordered the winds and the waves to stop. It became completely calm.

And he said to them,“ Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’“ Behold, all those who were incensed against you Shall be ashamed and disgraced; They shall be as nothing, And those who strive with you shall perish.You shall seek them and not find them— Those who contended with you. Those who war against you Shall be as nothing, As a nonexistent thing.For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you,‘ Fear not, I will help you.’“ Fear not, you worm Jacob, You men of Israel! I will help you,” says the Lord And your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

You who still the noise of the seas, The noise of their waves, And the tumult of the peoples.

Then they cry out to the Lord in their trouble, And He brings them out of their distresses.He calms the storm, So that its waves are still.Then they are glad because they are quiet; So He guides them to their desired haven.

Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

You rule the raging of the sea; When its waves rise, You still them.

Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea,“ Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.But He said to them,“ Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another,“ Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”

And they came to Him and awoke Him, saying,“ Master, Master, we are perishing!” Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they ceased, and there was a calm.But He said to them,“ Where is your faith?” And they were afraid, and marveled, saying to one another,“ Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!”

He had a little book open in his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land,

He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God,

Then He saw them straining at rowing, for the wind was against them. Now about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea, and would have passed them by.And when they saw Him walking on the sea, they supposed it was a ghost, and cried out;for they all saw Him and were troubled. But immediately He talked with them and said to them,“ Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”Then He went up into the boat to them, and the wind ceased. And they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and marveled.

But Jesus, being aware of it, said to them,“ O you of little faith, why do you reason among yourselves because you have brought no bread?

“ Or who shut in the sea with doors, When it burst forth and issued from the womb;When I made the clouds its garment, And thick darkness its swaddling band;When I fixed My limit for it, And set bars and doors;When I said,‘ This far you may come, but no farther, And here your proud waves must stop!’

So the men marveled, saying,“ Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”

Why, when I came, was there no man? Why, when I called, was there none to answer? Is My hand shortened at all that it cannot redeem? Or have I no power to deliver? Indeed with My rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness; Their fish stink because there is no water, And die of thirst.I clothe the heavens with blackness, And I make sackcloth their covering.”“ The Lord GOD has given Me The tongue of the learned, That I should know how to speak A word in season to him who is weary. He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear To hear as the learned.

He rebukes the sea and makes it dry, And dries up all the rivers. Bashan and Carmel wither, And the flower of Lebanon wilts.

The sea saw it and fled; Jordan turned back.The mountains skipped like rams, The little hills like lambs.What ails you, O sea, that you fled? O Jordan, that you turned back?O mountains, that you skipped like rams? O little hills, like lambs?Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, At the presence of the God of Jacob,

Who led them by the right hand of Moses, With His glorious arm, Dividing the water before them To make for Himself an everlasting name,

The floods have lifted up, O Lord, The floods have lifted up their voice; The floods lift up their waves.The Lord on high is mightier Than the noise of many waters, Than the mighty waves of the sea.

When He established the clouds above, When He strengthened the fountains of the deep,When He assigned to the sea its limit, So that the waters would not transgress His command, When He marked out the foundations of the earth,

But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying,“ Lord, save me!”And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him,“ O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

You covered it with the deep as with a garment; The waters stood above the mountains.At Your rebuke they fled; At the voice of Your thunder they hastened away.They went up over the mountains; They went down into the valleys, To the place which You founded for them.You have set a boundary that they may not pass over, That they may not return to cover the earth.

O Lord, were You displeased with the rivers, Was Your anger against the rivers, Was Your wrath against the sea, That You rode on Your horses, Your chariots of salvation?
