For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

People who are ungodly run after all those things. Your Father who is in heaven knows that you need them.

For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.

These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.

For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

Like a father has compassion on his children, so Yahweh has compassion on those who fear him.

from men by your hand, Yahweh, from men of the world, whose portion is in this life. You fill the belly of your cherished ones. Your sons have plenty, and they store up wealth for their children.

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind,

“ Which of you fathers, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he won’t give him a snake instead of a fish, will he?Or if he asks for an egg, he won’t give him a scorpion, will he?If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?”

not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don’t know God,

But Jesus summoned them, and said,“ You know that the rulers of the nations lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.It shall not be so among you, but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant.

For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?If you only greet your friends, what more do you do than others? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?
