For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

People who are ungodly run after all those things. Your Father who is in heaven knows that you need them.

For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.

These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.

For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead of a fish?Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?”

not with lustful passions, like the Gentiles, who don’t know God.

Jesus called them over and said,“ You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in high positions act as tyrants over them.It must not be like that among you. On the contrary, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,

For if you love those who love you, what reward will you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?And if you greet only your brothers and sisters, what are you doing out of the ordinary? Don’t even the Gentiles do the same?
