Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Be joyful and glad. Your reward in heaven is great. In the same way, people hurt the prophets who lived long ago.

Say to the righteous that it will go well for them, For they will eat the fruit of their actions.

But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with you all.

but they continually mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the Lord rose against His people, until there was no remedy.

For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and will then repay every person according to his deeds.

But love your enemies and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil people.

And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for the one who comes to God must believe that He exists, and that He proves to be One who rewards those who seek Him.

“ In vain I have struck your sons; They did not accept discipline. Your sword has devoured your prophets Like a destroying lion.

When King Jehoiakim and all his warriors and all the officials heard his words, then the king sought to put him to death; but Uriah heard about it, and he was afraid, so he fled and went to Egypt.Then King Jehoiakim sent men to Egypt: Elnathan the son of Achbor and certain men with him, to Egypt.And they brought Uriah from Egypt and led him to King Jehoiakim, who killed him with a sword and threw his dead body into the burial place of the common people.

considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking to the reward.

so that your charitable giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.“ And when you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they will be seen by people. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.

Moreover, Your servant is warned by them; In keeping them there is great reward.

Then the Spirit of God covered Zechariah, the son of Jehoiada the priest like clothing; and he stood above the people and said to them,“ This is what God has said,‘ Why do you break the commandments of the Lord and do not prosper? Because you have abandoned the Lord, He has also abandoned you.’ ”So they conspired against him, and at the command of the king they stoned him to death in the courtyard of the house of the Lord.So Joash the king did not remember the kindness which Zechariah’s father Jehoiada had shown him, but he murdered his son. And as Zechariah died he said,“ May the Lord see and avenge!”

And he said,“ I have been very zealous for the Lord, the God of armies; for the sons of Israel have abandoned Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they have sought to take my life.”So He said,“ Go out and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord was passing by! And a great and powerful wind was tearing out the mountains and breaking the rocks in pieces before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.And after the earthquake, a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire, a sound of a gentle blowing.When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. And behold, a voice came to him and said,“ What are you doing here, Elijah?”Then he said,“ I have been very zealous for the Lord, the God of armies; for the sons of Israel have abandoned Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they have sought to take my life.”
