Jesus answered,“ It is written:‘ Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Jesus answered,“ It is written,‘ Man must not live only on bread. He must also live on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ”( Deuteronomy 8:3)

But he answered,“ It is written,“‘ Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness. As it is written,‘ He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.’”Jesus therefore said to them,“ Most certainly, I tell you, it wasn’t Moses who gave you the bread out of heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven.For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world.”They said therefore to him,“ Lord, always give us this bread.”Jesus said to them,“ I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will not be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.But I told you that you have seen me, and yet you don’t believe.All those whom the Father gives me will come to me. He who comes to me I will in no way throw out.For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me.This is the will of my Father who sent me, that of all he has given to me I should lose nothing, but should raise him up at the last day.This is the will of the one who sent me, that everyone who sees the Son, and believes in him, should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”The Jews therefore murmured concerning him, because he said,“ I am the bread which came down out of heaven.”They said,“ Isn’t this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then does he say,‘ I have come down out of heaven?’”Therefore Jesus answered them,“ Don’t murmur among yourselves.No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up in the last day.It is written in the prophets,‘ They will all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who hears from the Father and has learned, comes to me.Not that anyone has seen the Father, except he who is from God. He has seen the Father.Most certainly, I tell you, he who believes in me has eternal life.I am the bread of life.Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness and they died.This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, that anyone may eat of it and not die.I am the living bread which came down out of heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. Yes, the bread which I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”The Jews therefore contended with one another, saying,“ How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”Jesus therefore said to them,“ Most certainly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you don’t have life in yourselves.He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me, and I in him.As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father; so he who feeds on me, he will also live because of me.This is the bread which came down out of heaven— not as our fathers ate the manna, and died. He who eats this bread will live forever.”He said these things in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.

It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life.

For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that through perseverance and through encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

When the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another,“ What is it?” For they didn’t know what it was. Moses said to them,“ It is the bread which Yahweh has given you to eat.

The children of Israel ate the manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land. They ate the manna until they came to the borders of the land of Canaan.

Jesus answered him,“ Get behind me Satan! For it is written,‘ You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only.’”

Moses said,“ Now Yahweh will give you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to satisfy you, because Yahweh hears your murmurings which you murmur against him. And who are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against Yahweh.”

Jesus therefore lifting up his eyes, and seeing that a great multitude was coming to him, said to Philip,“ Where are we to buy bread, that these may eat?”He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he would do.Philip answered him,“ Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may receive a little.”One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him,“ There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these among so many?”Jesus said,“ Have the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in that place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.Jesus took the loaves; and having given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to those who were sitting down; likewise also of the fish as much as they desired.When they were filled, he said to his disciples,“ Gather up the broken pieces which are left over, that nothing be lost.”So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had eaten.When therefore the people saw the sign which Jesus did, they said,“ This is truly the prophet who comes into the world.”Jesus therefore, perceiving that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, withdrew again to the mountain by himself.

Then Jesus said to him,“ Get behind me, Satan! For it is written,‘ You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only.’”

Jesus said to him,“ Again, it is written,‘ You shall not test the Lord, your God.’”

Elisha said,“ Hear Yahweh’s word. Yahweh says,‘ Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour will be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.’”Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said,“ Behold, if Yahweh made windows in heaven, could this thing be?” He said,“ Behold, you will see it with your eyes, but will not eat of it.”

You are cursed with the curse; for you rob me, even this whole nation.Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house, and test me now in this,” says Yahweh of Armies,“ if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there will not be room enough for.I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast its fruit before its time in the field,” says Yahweh of Armies.

His disciples answered him,“ From where could one satisfy these people with bread here in a deserted place?”He asked them,“ How many loaves do you have?” They said,“ Seven.”He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground, and he took the seven loaves. Having given thanks, he broke them, and gave them to his disciples to serve, and they served the multitude.They had a few small fish. Having blessed them, he said to serve these also.They ate, and were filled. They took up seven baskets of broken pieces that were left over.Those who had eaten were about four thousand. Then he sent them away.

Jesus answering, said to him,“ It has been said,‘ You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’”

But Jesus said to them,“ They don’t need to go away. You give them something to eat.”They told him,“ We only have here five loaves and two fish.”He said,“ Bring them here to me.”He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass; and he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, broke and gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples gave to the multitudes.They all ate, and were filled. They took up twelve baskets full of that which remained left over from the broken pieces.Those who ate were about five thousand men, in addition to women and children.

A man from Baal Shalishah came, and brought the man of God some bread of the first fruits: twenty loaves of barley and fresh ears of grain in his sack. He said,“ Give to the people, that they may eat.”His servant said,“ What, should I set this before a hundred men?” But he said,“ Give the people, that they may eat; for Yahweh says,‘ They will eat, and will have some left over.’”So he set it before them, and they ate, and had some left over, according to Yahweh’s word.

You shall observe the feast of unleavened bread. Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month Abib( for in it you came out of Egypt), and no one shall appear before me empty.

Through all that time, when one came to a heap of twenty measures, there were only ten. When one came to the wine vat to draw out fifty, there were only twenty.I struck you with blight, mildew, and hail in all the work of your hands; yet you didn’t turn to me,’ says Yahweh.‘ Consider, please, from this day and backward, from the twenty- fourth day of the ninth month, since the day that the foundation of Yahweh’s temple was laid, consider it.Is the seed yet in the barn? Yes, the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree haven’t produced. From today I will bless you.’”

He said to them,“ How many loaves do you have? Go see.” When they knew, they said,“ Five, and two fish.”He commanded them that everyone should sit down in groups on the green grass.They sat down in ranks, by hundreds and by fifties.He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed and broke the loaves, and he gave to his disciples to set before them, and he divided the two fish among them all.They all ate, and were filled.They took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and also of the fish.Those who ate the loaves were five thousand men.

She said,“ As Yahweh your God lives, I don’t have a cake, but a handful of meal in a jar, and a little oil in a jar. Behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and bake it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”Elijah said to her,“ Don’t be afraid. Go and do as you have said; but make me a little cake from it first, and bring it out to me, and afterward make some for you and for your son.For Yahweh, the God of Israel says,‘ The jar of meal will not run out, and the jar of oil will not fail, until the day that Yahweh sends rain on the earth.’”She went and did according to the saying of Elijah; and she, and he, and her house, ate many days.The jar of meal didn’t run out, and the jar of oil didn’t fail, according to Yahweh’s word, which he spoke by Elijah.
