But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them:“ You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?

John saw many Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing. He said to them,“ You are like a nest of poisonous snakes! Who warned you to escape the coming of God’s anger?

You offspring of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

You serpents, you offspring of vipers, how will you escape the judgment of Gehenna?

and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead: Jesus, who delivers us from the wrath to come.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,

On that day Sadducees( those who say that there is no resurrection) came to him. They asked him,

“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and as a pretense you make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.

“ Flee out of the middle of Babylon! Everyone save his own life! Don’t be cut off in her iniquity; for it is the time of Yahweh’s vengeance. He will render to her a recompense.

How is it that you don’t perceive that I didn’t speak to you concerning bread? But beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”Then they understood that he didn’t tell them to beware of the yeast of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we will be saved from God’s wrath through him.

To whom should I speak and testify, that they may hear? Behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they can’t listen. Behold, Yahweh’s word has become a reproach to them. They have no delight in it.

Jesus said to them,“ Take heed and beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

When I tell the wicked,‘ You will surely die;’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; that wicked man will die in his iniquity; but I will require his blood at your hand.Yet if you warn the wicked, and he doesn’t turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he will die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.”“ Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he will die. Because you have not given him warning, he will die in his sin, and his righteous deeds which he has done will not be remembered; but I will require his blood at your hand.Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man, that the righteous not sin, and he does not sin, he will surely live, because he took warning; and you have delivered your soul.”

( For the Pharisees and all the Jews don’t eat unless they wash their hands and forearms, holding to the tradition of the elders.They don’t eat when they come from the marketplace unless they bathe themselves, and there are many other things, which they have received to hold to: washings of cups, pitchers, bronze vessels, and couches.)The Pharisees and the scribes asked him,“ Why don’t your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?”

For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way you will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.

The Lord said to him,“ Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter, but your inward part is full of extortion and wickedness.You foolish ones, didn’t he who made the outside make the inside also?But give for gifts to the needy those things which are within, and behold, all things will be clean to you.But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and every herb, but you bypass justice and God’s love. You ought to have done these, and not to have left the other undone.Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the best seats in the synagogues, and the greetings in the marketplaces.Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like hidden graves, and the men who walk over them don’t know it.”

Then the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might entrap him in his talk.

But some of the sect of the Pharisees who believed rose up, saying,“ It is necessary to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.”

Therefore watch, remembering that for a period of three years I didn’t cease to admonish everyone night and day with tears.

You are of your father, the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and doesn’t stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and the father of lies.

By faith, Noah, being warned about things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared a ship for the saving of his house, through which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

Those of the Pharisees who were with him heard these things, and said to him,“ Are we also blind?”

if, when he sees the sword come on the land, he blows the trumpet, and warns the people;then whoever hears the sound of the trumpet, and doesn’t heed the warning, if the sword comes, and takes him away, his blood will be on his own head.He heard the sound of the trumpet, and didn’t take warning. His blood will be on him; whereas if he had heeded the warning, he would have delivered his soul.But if the watchman sees the sword come, and doesn’t blow the trumpet, and the people aren’t warned, and the sword comes, and takes any person from among them; he is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.’“ So you, son of man: I have set you a watchman to the house of Israel. Therefore hear the word from my mouth, and give them warnings from me.

But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together.

The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them,“ Why didn’t you bring him?”The officers answered,“ No man ever spoke like this man!”The Pharisees therefore answered them,“ You aren’t also led astray, are you?Have any of the rulers believed in him, or of the Pharisees?But this multitude that doesn’t know the law is cursed.”

The ones who had been sent were from the Pharisees.

The wicked go astray from the womb. They are wayward as soon as they are born, speaking lies.Their poison is like the poison of a snake, like a deaf cobra that stops its ear,which doesn’t listen to the voice of charmers, no matter how skillful the charmer may be.Break their teeth, God, in their mouth. Break out the great teeth of the young lions, Yahweh.

But the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him( which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with jealousy

Some Sadducees, who say that there is no resurrection, came to him. They asked him, saying,

In this the children of God are revealed, and the children of the devil. Whoever doesn’t do righteousness is not of God, neither is he who doesn’t love his brother.

They sent some of the Pharisees and the Herodians to him, that they might trap him with words.

But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the counsel of God, not being baptized by him themselves.

“ But draw near here, you sons of a sorceress, you offspring of adulterers and prostitutes.Whom do you mock? Against whom do you make a wide mouth and stick out your tongue? Aren’t you children of disobedience and offspring of falsehood,

who will pay the penalty: eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might,when he comes in that day to be glorified in his saints and to be admired among all those who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed.

having known me from the first, if they are willing to testify, that after the strictest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.

The Pharisee stood and prayed to himself like this:‘ God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of men, extortionists, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.

I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will bruise your head, and you will bruise his heel.”

They hatch adders’ eggs, and weave the spider’s web. He who eats of their eggs dies; and that which is crushed breaks out into a viper.

They told the mountains and the rocks,“ Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb,for the great day of his wrath has come; and who is able to stand?”

The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they scoffed at him.

The great dragon was thrown down, the old serpent, he who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world. He was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying,“ Now the salvation, the power, and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ has come; for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them before our God day and night.

He said therefore to the multitudes who went out to be baptized by him,“ You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?Therefore produce fruits worthy of repentance, and don’t begin to say among yourselves,‘ We have Abraham for our father;’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones!Even now the ax also lies at the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire.”

But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council,“ Men and brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees. Concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am being judged!”When he had said this, an argument arose between the Pharisees and Sadducees, and the crowd was divided.For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, nor angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees confess all of these.A great clamor arose, and some of the scribes of the Pharisees’ part stood up, and contended, saying,“ We find no evil in this man. But if a spirit or angel has spoken to him, let’s not fight against God!”

As they spoke to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came to them,being upset because they taught the people and proclaimed in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

Then the disciples came, and said to him,“ Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?”

But when the Pharisees heard it, they said,“ This man does not cast out demons, except by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons.”

He warned them, saying,“ Take heed: beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod.”

that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to take hold of the hope set before us.
