But John tried to deter him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”

But John tried to stop him. So he told Jesus,“ I need to be baptized by you. So why do you come to me?”

John would have prevented him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”

But John tried to talk him out of it.“ I am the one who needs to be baptized by you,” he said,“ so why are you coming to me?”

But John tried to prevent Him, saying,“ I have the need to be baptized by You, and yet You are coming to me?”

And John tried to prevent Him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?”

But John would have hindered him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

But John tried to stop Him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by You, and yet You come to me?”

But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

But John tried to prevent him, saying,“ I need to be baptized by you, and yet you come to me?”

Jesus answered him,“ Most certainly, I tell you, unless one is born anew, he can’t see God’s Kingdom.”Nicodemus said to him,“ How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?”Jesus answered,“ Most certainly I tell you, unless one is born of water and spirit, he can’t enter into God’s Kingdom.That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit.Don’t marvel that I said to you,‘ You must be born anew.’

For John indeed baptized in water, but you will be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”Therefore when they had come together, they asked him,“ Lord, are you now restoring the kingdom to Israel?”He said to them,“ It isn’t for you to know times or seasons which the Father has set within his own authority.But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.”

Then he came to Simon Peter. He said to him,“ Lord, do you wash my feet?”Jesus answered him,“ You don’t know what I am doing now, but you will understand later.”Peter said to him,“ You will never wash my feet!” Jesus answered him,“ If I don’t wash you, you have no part with me.”

whom God sent to be an atoning sacrifice, through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness through the passing over of prior sins, in God’s forbearance;

For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.If you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring and heirs according to promise.

From his fullness we all received grace upon grace.

And because you are children, God sent out the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying,“ Abba, Father!”

Why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

We also all once lived among them in the lusts of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us,even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved—

for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God;

But the Scripture imprisoned all things under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude, which no man could count, out of every nation and of all tribes, peoples, and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, dressed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands.They cried with a loud voice, saying,“ Salvation be to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”All the angels were standing around the throne, the elders, and the four living creatures; and they fell on their faces before his throne, and worshiped God,saying,“ Amen! Blessing, glory, wisdom, thanksgiving, honor, power, and might, be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”One of the elders answered, saying to me,“ These who are arrayed in the white robes, who are they, and where did they come from?”I told him,“ My lord, you know.” He said to me,“ These are those who came out of the great suffering. They washed their robes, and made them white in the Lamb’s blood.Therefore they are before the throne of God, they serve him day and night in his temple. He who sits on the throne will spread his tabernacle over them.They will never be hungry or thirsty any more. The sun won’t beat on them, nor any heat;for the Lamb who is in the middle of the throne shepherds them and leads them to springs of life- giving waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
