The two were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and got to the tomb first.Stooping down, he saw the linen cloths lying there, yet he did not go in.Then, following him, Simon Peter came also. He entered the tomb and saw the linen cloths lying there.The wrapping that had been on His head was not lying with the linen cloths but was folded up in a separate place by itself.The other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, then entered the tomb, saw, and believed.For they still did not understand the Scripture that He must rise from the dead.

For as Jonah was in the belly of the huge fish three days and three nights, so the Son of Man will be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.

From then on Jesus began to point out to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, be killed, and be raised the third day.

This is why the Father loves Me, because I am laying down My life so I may take it up again.

Then Jesus said to them,“ Tonight all of you will run away because of Me, for it is written: I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.But after I have been resurrected, I will go ahead of you to Galilee.”

Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. When he stooped to look in, he saw only the linen cloths. So he went home, amazed at what had happened.

and when they didn’t find His body, they came and reported that they had seen a vision of angels who said He was alive.

Jesus answered,“ Destroy this sanctuary, and I will raise it up in three days.”

They will kill Him, and on the third day He will be raised up.” And they were deeply distressed.
