He says,“ You will do more than restore the people of Israel to me. I will make you a light to the Gentiles, and you will bring my salvation to the ends of the earth.”

Then Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and declared,“ It was necessary that we first preach the word of God to you Jews. But since you have rejected it and judged yourselves unworthy of eternal life, we will offer it to the Gentiles.For the Lord gave us this command when he said,‘ I have made you a light to the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.’”

“ Then what baptism did you experience?” he asked. And they replied,“ The baptism of John.”Paul said,“ John’s baptism called for repentance from sin. But John himself told the people to believe in the one who would come later, meaning Jesus.”As soon as they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes.

So I want you to know that this salvation from God has also been offered to the Gentiles, and they will accept it.”

Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.

Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death?For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.

But now the people believed Philip’s message of Good News concerning the Kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ. As a result, many men and women were baptized.Then Simon himself believed and was baptized. He began following Philip wherever he went, and he was amazed by the signs and great miracles Philip performed.When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that the people of Samaria had accepted God’s message, they sent Peter and John there.As soon as they arrived, they prayed for these new believers to receive the Holy Spirit.The Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them, for they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him.And a voice from heaven said,“ This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”

As they rode along, they came to some water, and the eunuch said,“ Look! There’s some water! Why can’t I be baptized?”

Has Christ been divided into factions? Was I, Paul, crucified for you? Were any of you baptized in the name of Paul? Of course not!I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius,for now no one can say they were baptized in my name.( Oh yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas, but I don’t remember baptizing anyone else.)

The whole earth will acknowledge the Lord and return to him. All the families of the nations will bow down before him.For royal power belongs to the Lord. He rules all the nations.

Come closer, and listen to this. From the beginning I have told you plainly what would happen.” And now the Sovereign Lord and his Spirit have sent me with this message.

The Lord has announced his victory and has revealed his righteousness to every nation!He has remembered his promise to love and be faithful to Israel. The ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God.

Then God said,“ Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”

The Lord has demonstrated his holy power before the eyes of all the nations. All the ends of the earth will see the victory of our God.

And that water is a picture of baptism, which now saves you, not by removing dirt from your body, but as a response to God from a clean conscience. It is effective because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

After preaching the Good News in Derbe and making many disciples, Paul and Barnabas returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch of Pisidia,

But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been appointed as God’s servant to proclaim it.

This letter is from John to the seven churches in the province of Asia. Grace and peace to you from the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come; from the sevenfold Spirit before his throne;and from Jesus Christ. He is the faithful witness to these things, the first to rise from the dead, and the ruler of all the kings of the world. All glory to him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by shedding his blood for us.He has made us a Kingdom of priests for God his Father. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.

“ I can see what they are doing, and I know what they are thinking. So I will gather all nations and peoples together, and they will see my glory.I will perform a sign among them. And I will send those who survive to be messengers to the nations— to Tarshish, to the Libyans and Lydians( who are famous as archers), to Tubal and Greece, and to all the lands beyond the sea that have not heard of my fame or seen my glory. There they will declare my glory to the nations.

“ Look at my servant, whom I strengthen. He is my chosen one, who pleases me. I have put my Spirit upon him. He will bring justice to the nations.He will not shout or raise his voice in public.He will not crush the weakest reed or put out a flickering candle. He will bring justice to all who have been wronged.He will not falter or lose heart until justice prevails throughout the earth. Even distant lands beyond the sea will wait for his instruction.”

‘ May the Lord bless you and protect you.May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you.May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.’Whenever Aaron and his sons bless the people of Israel in my name, I myself will bless them.”

Then he added,“ Every teacher of religious law who becomes a disciple in the Kingdom of Heaven is like a homeowner who brings from his storeroom new gems of truth as well as old.”

If the dead will not be raised, what point is there in people being baptized for those who are dead? Why do it unless the dead will someday rise again?

There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all.There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord.God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.

She and her household were baptized, and she asked us to be her guests.“ If you agree that I am a true believer in the Lord,” she said,“ come and stay at my home.” And she urged us until we agreed.One day as we were going down to the place of prayer, we met a slave girl who had a spirit that enabled her to tell the future. She earned a lot of money for her masters by telling fortunes.She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting,“ These men are servants of the Most High God, and they have come to tell you how to be saved.”This went on day after day until Paul got so exasperated that he turned and said to the demon within her,“ I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And instantly it left her.Her masters’ hopes of wealth were now shattered, so they grabbed Paul and Silas and dragged them before the authorities at the marketplace.“ The whole city is in an uproar because of these Jews!” they shouted to the city officials.“ They are teaching customs that are illegal for us Romans to practice.”A mob quickly formed against Paul and Silas, and the city officials ordered them stripped and beaten with wooden rods.They were severely beaten, and then they were thrown into prison. The jailer was ordered to make sure they didn’t escape.So the jailer put them into the inner dungeon and clamped their feet in the stocks.Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening.Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!The jailer woke up to see the prison doors wide open. He assumed the prisoners had escaped, so he drew his sword to kill himself.But Paul shouted to him,“ Stop! Don’t kill yourself! We are all here!”The jailer called for lights and ran to the dungeon and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas.Then he brought them out and asked,“ Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”They replied,“ Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.”And they shared the word of the Lord with him and with all who lived in his household.Even at that hour of the night, the jailer cared for them and washed their wounds. Then he and everyone in his household were immediately baptized.

Instantly something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he got up and was baptized.
