Then he began to call down curses, and he swore to them,“ I don’t know the man!” Immediately a rooster crowed.

Then Peter began to curse and said to them,“ I don’t know the man!” Right away a rooster crowed.

Then he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear,“ I do not know the man.” And immediately the rooster crowed.

Peter swore,“ A curse on me if I’m lying— I don’t know the man!” And immediately the rooster crowed.

And the men of Israel were distressed that day; for Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food until it be evening, and I be avenged on mine enemies. But he began to curse, and to swear, I know not this man of whom ye speak.And straightway the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word, how that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.

But he denied, saying, I neither know, nor understand what thou sayest: and he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.
