But Peter declared,“ Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.” And all the other disciples said the same.

Peter and his companions were very sleepy, but when they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him.

Then he said to them,“ My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”

When he rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, he found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow.

In the morning at sunrise, advance against the city. When Gaal and his men come out against you, seize the opportunity to attack them.”

David said,“ You’re a man, aren’t you? And who is like you in Israel? Why didn’t you guard your lord the king? Someone came to destroy your lord the king.What you have done is not good. As surely as the Lord lives, you and your men must die, because you did not guard your master, the Lord’s anointed. Look around you. Where are the king’s spear and water jug that were near his head?”

The king of Israel answered,“ Tell him:‘ One who puts on his armor should not boast like one who takes it off.’”

I slept but my heart was awake. Listen! My beloved is knocking:“ Open to me, my sister, my darling, my dove, my flawless one. My head is drenched with dew, my hair with the dampness of the night.”
