在父神看来，纯洁而没有玷污的虔诚是这样的：照顾患难中的孤儿寡妇，并且保守自己不受世界的玷污。

你们要顾念那些被囚禁的人，好像与他们一同被囚禁；要记念那些受虐待的人，好像你们自己也是在肉体中受虐待。

你们中间谁患病，就应该请教会的长老们来，让他们奉主的名用油来膏抹他、为他祷告。出于信的祈求，将会救那病人；主将使他起来；即使他犯了罪，也将被赦免。

我的弟兄们，如果有人说自己有信仰，但却没有行为，这有什么好处呢？难道这种信仰能救他吗？如果有弟兄或姐妹衣不蔽体，又缺乏日用的食物，而你们当中有人对他们说：“平平安安地去吧！愿你们穿得暖、吃得饱！”，却不给他们身体所需要的，这有什么好处呢？

愿主施怜悯给奥尼斯弗罗的家人，因为他多次使我神清气爽，也没有以我的锁链为耻；相反，他一到罗马，就殷切地寻找我，并且找到了。愿主使他在那日子得到主的怜悯！至于他在以弗所的一切服事工作，你知道得更清楚。

在一切事上，我都给你们做了榜样：必须这样地劳苦做工来扶助软弱的人，并且要记住主耶稣自己说过的话：‘施比受更加蒙福。’”

的确，你们不但同情了那些被囚禁的人，而且当自己所拥有的被夺去时，你们也甘心接受了，因为知道你们在天上有更好的、长存的产业。

当时，普布利乌的父亲患热病和痢疾，躺在床上。保罗就进去为他祷告，按手在他身上，使他痊愈了。这么一来，岛上其他有病的人也都来了，并且都得了痊愈。

我在异乡时，你们没有收留我；我衣不蔽体，你们没有给我穿；我患了病、在监狱里，你们没有照顾我。’

我在主里极其欢喜，因为现在你们终于又萌发了思念我的心。其实你们一直在思念我，只是没有机会表达。我这样说，并不是因为我缺少什么；事实上，我已经学会了在任何情况下都知足。我知道怎样处卑贱，也知道怎样处丰富；在一切事上，在一切情况下，或饱足、或饥饿，或丰富、或缺乏，我都得了秘诀。藉着使我刚强的那一位，我一切都能。不过你们分担了我的患难，做得很好。

把你的粮食分给饥饿的人，把流浪的困苦人接到家中，见到赤身的人就给他衣服穿，不回避有需要的骨肉之亲。

约翰回答说：“有两件衣服的，当分给那没有的；有食物的，也当如此做。”
