As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately.“ Tell us,” they said,“ when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”

And as He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying,“ Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying,“ Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

And as he sat on the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

While He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached Him privately and said,“ Tell us, when will these things happen? And what is the sign of Your coming and of the end of the age?”

And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what[ shall be] the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

耶稣回答说：“天父照祂的权柄定下的时间、日期不是你们可以知道的。

耶稣面向圣殿坐在橄榄山上，彼得、雅各、约翰和安得烈私下来问祂：“请告诉我们，这些事什么时候会发生？有什么预兆？”

耶稣和门徒离耶路撒冷越来越近了，他们来到橄榄山旁的伯法其。

否则，自创世以来，祂不知道要受难多少次了。但如今在这世代的末期，祂只一次献上自己，便除去了人的罪。

其中一人问身穿细麻衣、站在河水之上的人：“这奇异的事何时才应验呢？”我听见身穿细麻衣、站在河水之上的人向天举起双手，凭永活者起誓说：“再过三年半，等摧毁圣民的权势结束时，这一切事都要成就。”我听见这话，却不明白，就问他：“我主啊，这些事的结局会怎样呢？”

你们都知道，如果一家的主人知道贼会在半夜几点来，就必警醒，不让贼入屋偷窃。

人子降临时的情形就像挪亚的时代。

撒毒麦的仇敌就是魔鬼。收割的日子便是世界的末日，收割的工人就是天使。“毒麦怎样被拔出来丢在火里烧，同样，在世界末日的时候，

“你们可以从无花果树学个道理。当无花果树发芽长叶的时候，你们就知道夏天快来了。同样，当你们看见这一切事发生时，就知道人子快来了，就在门口。

人子降临时的情形就像闪电从东方发出一直照到西方。

世界末日的时候也是这样。天使必把恶人从义人中拣出来，

弟兄姊妹，这件事会在什么日期、什么时候发生，不必我写信告诉你们，因为你们已经清楚知道，将来有一天，主会突然来到，像贼在夜里忽然出现一样。当人们正在说一切平安稳妥的时候，灾祸会像产痛临到孕妇一样突然临到他们，令他们无法逃脱。然而，弟兄姊妹，你们不是活在黑暗里，因此那日子不会像贼一样突然临到你们。你们都是光明之子，白昼之子。我们既不属于黑夜，也不属于黑暗。所以不要像其他人一样沉睡，要警醒戒备，因为睡觉的人是在夜里睡，醉酒的人是在夜里醉。我们既属于白昼，就应当保持清醒，要把信心和爱心当作护心镜遮胸，把得救的盼望当作头盔戴上。因为上帝不是预定我们受惩罚，而是预定我们靠着主耶稣基督得救。主替我们死，使我们无论是醒是睡，都可以与祂同活。所以，你们要彼此鼓励、互相造就，正如你们一向所做的。

教导他们遵守我吩咐你们的一切。记住，我必常与你们同在，一直到世界的末了。”

彼得问耶稣：“主啊！他将来会怎样呢？”耶稣说：“如果我要他活到我再来，与你有什么关系？你只管跟从我吧！”

他们问：“老师，这些事什么时候会发生呢？发生的时候有什么预兆呢？”

事后，门徒私下问耶稣：“我们为什么赶不走那鬼呢？”

他们懵然不知，直到洪水来把他们全冲走了。人子降临时的情形也是这样。

后来，耶稣离开人群，进到屋里。门徒也跟着进去，对耶稣说：“请为我们解释毒麦的比喻。”

门徒上前对祂说：“你知道吗？法利赛人听见你的话很反感。”

门徒上前问耶稣：“你为什么要用比喻来教导他们呢？”耶稣回答说：“天国的奥秘只让你们知道，不让他们知道。
