早晨，他们经过的时候，看见那棵无花果树连根都枯萎了。彼得想起来就对耶稣说：“拉比，请看，你所咒诅的无花果树，已经枯萎了。”

有声音说：“你呼喊吧！”他问（“他问”或参照《死海古卷》和《七十士译本》翻译为“我说”）：“我呼喊什么呢？”“所有的人尽都如草；他们的荣美都像野地的花。草必枯干，花必凋谢；因为耶和华的气吹在上面；真的，这民的确是草！草必枯干，花必凋谢，唯有我们神的道永远长存。”

富足的也不应该以降卑为辱；因为他如同草上的花，必要过去。太阳一出，热风一吹，草必枯干，花必凋谢，它的美容就消失了；富足的人也必在他的奔波经营中这样衰落。
