到那日，他的腳必站在對著耶路撒冷，在東面的橄欖山上；這橄欖山必從中間裂開，由東至西成為極大的山谷。山的一半向北挪移，一半向南挪移。

耶穌照常到橄欖山去，門徒也跟著他。

他們走近耶路撒冷，到了伯法其和伯大尼，來到橄欖山那裡，耶穌派了兩個門徒，對他們說：“你們往對面的村子裡去，一進去，就會看見一頭小驢拴在那裡，是沒有人騎過的，把牠解開牽來。如果有人問你們：‘為甚麼這樣作？’你們就說：‘主需要牠，並且很快會送還到這裡來。’”門徒去了，就發現一頭小驢，拴在門外的街上，就把牠解開。站在那裡的人有的問他們說：“你們為甚麼解牠？”門徒照著耶穌所說的話回答他們，那些人就讓他們牽走了。門徒把小驢牽到耶穌那裡，把自己的衣服搭在上面，耶穌就騎了上去。許多人把衣服鋪在路上，還有人從田野裡砍了些樹枝也鋪在路上。前行後隨的人都喊著說：“‘和散那’，奉主名來的是應當稱頌的！那將要來臨的，我們祖先大衛的國是應當稱頌的！高天之上當唱‘和散那’！”

耶穌講完這些話，就往前走，上耶路撒冷去。將到伯法其和伯大尼，就在橄欖山那裡，他差派兩個門徒，說：“你們往對面的村子裡去，走進去的時候，就會看見一頭從來沒有人騎過的小驢，拴在那裡，把牠解開牽來。如果有人問為甚麼解開牠，你們要這樣說：‘主需要牠。’”被差的人去了，發現和主所說的一樣。他們解開小驢的時候，主人問他們：“你們為甚麼解開牠？”他們說：“主需要牠。”他們把小驢牽到耶穌那裡，把自己的衣服搭在上面，扶著耶穌上去。耶穌前行的時候，眾人把自己的衣服鋪在路上。他走近耶路撒冷，快要下橄欖山的時候，全體門徒因為所看見的一切神蹟，就歡樂起來，大聲讚美神，說：“奉主名來的王，是應當稱頌的！在天上有和平，在至高之處有榮耀！”

他們唱完了詩，就出來，往橄欖山去。
