於是他們大大地喧嚷起來。有些法利賽派的經文士們站起來激烈地爭辯，說：「我們查不出這個人有什麼錯。也許有靈或天使對他說過話呢！」

因為耶穌教導他們，就像有權柄的人，不像他們的經文士們。

到了第二天，猶太人的首領、長老和經文士們都聚集在耶路撒冷。

祭司長們和經文士們都站在那裡，極力控告他。

經文士和祭司長們知道這個比喻是針對他們而說的，當時就想下手捉拿耶穌，可是又怕民眾。

耶穌進了聖殿，正教導人的時候，祭司長們和民間的長老們前來問他：「你憑什麼權柄做這些事？是誰給你這權柄的？」

於是猶大領著一隊士兵，還有祭司長們和法利賽人的差役們，帶著燈籠、火把、兵器來到那裡。

耶穌對他們說：「為此，凡是成為天國門徒的經文士，就好比一家的主人，從他的寶庫裡拿出新的和舊的東西來。」

耶穌回答說：「你是以色列的老師，還不明白這些事嗎？

那時，祭司長們和民間的長老們聚集在叫該亞法的大祭司的宅院裡，

祭司長們和經文士們看見耶穌所行的神蹟，又見孩子們在聖殿裡呼喊說：「和散那歸於大衛的後裔」，就很生氣。

地上的君王們站出來，首領們一同商定，敵對耶和華和他的受膏者，說：

法利賽人聽到了眾人私下議論耶穌的這些事。於是祭司長們和法利賽人就派差役們去抓他。

這時，經文士們和法利賽人帶來一個在通姦時被抓住的婦人，叫她站在中間。

他們又煽動民眾、長老和經文士們就忽然來抓住司提反，把他帶到議會，

到了清晨，所有的祭司長和民間的長老商議對付耶穌，為要處死他。

耶穌開始教導他們說：「人子必須受很多苦害，被長老們、祭司長們和經文士們棄絕，並且被殺，然後在第三天要復活。」

耶穌還在說話的時候，忽然十二使徒之一的猶大來了。有一大群人拿著刀劍和棍棒與他一起來，他們是祭司長們和民間的長老們所派來的。

祭司的嘴當謹守知識，人當從他口中尋求訓誨，因為他是萬軍之耶和華的使者。」
