Jesus replied,“ Moses let you divorce your wives because you were stubborn. But it was not this way from the beginning.

Jesus replied,“ Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning.

He said to them,“ Because of your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.

Jesus replied,“ Moses permitted divorce only as a concession to your hard hearts, but it was not what God had originally intended.

He told them,“ Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because of the hardness of your hearts, but it was not like that from the beginning.

He* said to them,“ Because of your hardness of heart Moses permitted you to divorce your wives; but from the beginning it has not been this way.

He said to them,“ Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.

He saith unto them, Moses for your hardness of heart suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it hath not been so.

He told them,“ Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because of the hardness of your hearts. But it was not like that from the beginning.

Jesus said to them,“ Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because of your hard hearts, but from the beginning it was not this way.

He said to them,“ Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it has not been so.

Here’s something else you do. You flood the Lord’ s altar with your tears. You weep and cry because your offerings don’t please him anymore. He doesn’t accept them with pleasure from your hands.You ask,“ Why?” It’s because the Lord is holding you responsible. He watches how you treat the wife you married when you were young. You have been unfaithful to her. You did it even though she’s your partner. You promised to stay married to her. And the Lord was a witness to it.

The Lord tells the people of Judah,“ Stand where the roads cross, and look around. Ask where the old paths are. Ask for the good path, and walk on it. Then your hearts will find rest in me. But you said,‘ We won’t walk on it.’

That’s why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife. The two of them become one.

He and his sons entered the ark. His wife and his sons’ wives went with them. They entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood.

Jesus replied,“ Let it be this way for now. It is right for us to do this. It carries out God’s holy plan.” Then John agreed.

He says,“ Don’t be stubborn as you were at Meribah. Don’t be stubborn as you were that day at Massah in the desert.

They made their hearts as hard as the hardest stone. They wouldn’t listen to the law. They wouldn’t pay attention to the Lord’ s messages. So the Lord who rules over all was very angry. After all, his Spirit had spoken to his people through the earlier prophets.

“ You were stubborn. That’s why Moses wrote you this law,” Jesus replied.

The demons begged Jesus,“ If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.”

I say those things to you as my advice, not as a command.
