法利賽人前來試探耶穌，說：“人根據某些理由休妻，可以嗎？”

有法利赛人来试探耶稣，说：“人无论什么缘故都可以休妻吗？”

Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked,“ Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?”

Some Pharisees came to test Jesus. They asked,“ Does the Law allow a man to divorce his wife for any reason at all?”

And Pharisees came up to him and tested him by asking,“ Is it lawful to divorce one’s wife for any cause?”

Some Pharisees came and tried to trap him with this question:“ Should a man be allowed to divorce his wife for just any reason?”

Some Pharisees approached him to test him. They asked,“ Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife on any grounds?”

Some Pharisees came to Jesus, testing Him and asking,“ Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason at all?”

The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him,“ Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?”

And there came unto him Pharisees, trying him, and saying, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?

有法利賽人前來試探耶穌，問他：“丈夫可以休妻嗎？

在那裡，你們的祖先以試驗來試探我，觀看我的作為有四十年之久。

法利賽人和撒都該人前來試探耶穌，求他顯個從天上來的神蹟給他們看。

他們派了自己的門徒和希律黨的人一同去問耶穌：“老師，我們知道你為人誠實，照著真理把神的道教導人，不顧忌任何人，因為你不徇情面。請把你的意見告訴我們，納稅給凱撒，可不可以呢？”耶穌看出他們的惡意，就說：“虛偽的人，為甚麼試探我呢？

他們說這話是要試探耶穌，要找把柄來控告他。耶穌卻彎下身，用指頭在地上寫字。

他們中間有一個律法家，試探耶穌說：

耶穌看出他們的假意，就對他們說：“你們為甚麼試探我呢？拿一個銀幣來給我，讓我看看。”

後來，他們派了幾個法利賽人和希律黨的人到耶穌那裡去，要找他的把柄來陷害他。

耶穌從那裡出來，經學家和法利賽人非常敵視他，質問他很多問題，等機會從他的口中找把柄。

“又有這樣的吩咐：‘人若休妻，就應當給她休書。’可是我告訴你們，凡休妻的，如果不是因她不貞，就是促使她犯姦淫；無論誰娶了被休的婦人，也就是犯姦淫了。

你們還問：“為甚麼呢？”因為耶和華在你和你年輕時所娶的妻子中間作證；她是你的伴侶，是你立約的妻子，你竟對她不忠！神所作的不是一個嗎？其餘的氣息都是屬於他的。那一個尋求甚麼呢？就是神的子孫。（本節原文意思不確定）所以要謹守你們的靈性，不可對年輕時所娶的妻子不忠。耶和華以色列的神說：“我恨惡休妻和以強暴待妻子。”萬軍之耶和華說：“所以要謹守你們的靈性，不可行詭詐的事。”
