Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked,“ Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?”

Some Pharisees came to test Jesus. They asked,“ Does the Law allow a man to divorce his wife for any reason at all?”

And Pharisees came up to him and tested him by asking,“ Is it lawful to divorce one’s wife for any cause?”

Some Pharisees came and tried to trap him with this question:“ Should a man be allowed to divorce his wife for just any reason?”

Some Pharisees approached him to test him. They asked,“ Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife on any grounds?”

Some Pharisees came to Jesus, testing Him and asking,“ Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason at all?”

The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him,“ Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?”

And there came unto him Pharisees, trying him, and saying, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?

有法利赛人前来试探耶稣，问他：“丈夫可以休妻吗？

在那里，你们的祖先以试验来试探我，观看我的作为有四十年之久。

法利赛人和撒都该人前来试探耶稣，求他显个从天上来的神迹给他们看。

他们派了自己的门徒和希律党的人一同去问耶稣：“老师，我们知道你为人诚实，照着真理把神的道教导人，不顾忌任何人，因为你不徇情面。请把你的意见告诉我们，纳税给凯撒，可不可以呢？”耶稣看出他们的恶意，就说：“虚伪的人，为什么试探我呢？

他们说这话是要试探耶稣，要找把柄来控告他。耶稣却弯下身，用指头在地上写字。

他们中间有一个律法家，试探耶稣说：

耶稣看出他们的假意，就对他们说：“你们为什么试探我呢？拿一个银币来给我，让我看看。”

后来，他们派了几个法利赛人和希律党的人到耶稣那里去，要找他的把柄来陷害他。

耶稣从那里出来，经学家和法利赛人非常敌视他，质问他很多问题，等机会从他的口中找把柄。

“又有这样的吩咐：‘人若休妻，就应当给她休书。’可是我告诉你们，凡休妻的，如果不是因她不贞，就是促使她犯奸淫；无论谁娶了被休的妇人，也就是犯奸淫了。

你们还问：“为什么呢？”因为耶和华在你和你年轻时所娶的妻子中间作证；她是你的伴侣，是你立约的妻子，你竟对她不忠！神所作的不是一个吗？其余的气息都是属于他的。那一个寻求什么呢？就是神的子孙。（本节原文意思不确定）所以要谨守你们的灵性，不可对年轻时所娶的妻子不忠。耶和华以色列的神说：“我恨恶休妻和以强暴待妻子。”万军之耶和华说：“所以要谨守你们的灵性，不可行诡诈的事。”
