Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them.

And He called a child to Himself and set him among them,and said,“ Truly I say to you, unless you change and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.So whoever will humble himself like this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.And whoever receives one such child in My name, receives Me;

For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far away, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.”

Now it came about after these things that Joseph was told,“ Behold, your father is sick.” So he took his two sons Manasseh and Ephraim with him.

Now when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with a three year old bull, one ephah of flour, and a jug of wine, and brought him to the house of the Lord in Shiloh, although the child was young.

And yet Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying,“ God forbid it, Lord! This shall never happen to You!”

John answered and said,“ Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name; and we tried to prevent him, because he does not follow along with us.”But Jesus said to him,“ Do not hinder him; for the one who is not against you is for you.”

But the crowd sternly warned them to be quiet; yet they cried out all the more,“ Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”

May the Lord increase you, You and your children.May you be blessed of the Lord, Maker of heaven and earth.

and I will give them one heart and one way, so that they will fear Me always, for their own good and for the good of their children after them.

When His disciples James and John saw this, they said,“ Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them?”But He turned and rebuked them.

And Joseph said to his father,“ They are my sons, whom God has given me here.” So he said,“ Bring them to me, please, so that I may bless them.”Now the eyes of Israel were so dim from age that he could not see. And Joseph brought them close to him, and he kissed them and embraced them.And Israel said to Joseph,“ I never expected to see your face, and behold, God has let me see your children as well!”Then Joseph took them from his knees, and bowed with his face to the ground.And Joseph took them both, Ephraim with his right hand toward Israel’s left, and Manasseh with his left hand toward Israel’s right, and brought them close to him.But Israel reached out his right hand and placed it on the head of Ephraim, who was the younger, and his left hand on Manasseh’s head, crossing his hands, although Manasseh was the firstborn.And he blessed Joseph, and said,“ The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, The God who has been my shepherd all my life to this day,The angel who has redeemed me from all evil, Bless the boys; And may my name live on in them, And the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; And may they grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.”When Joseph saw that his father placed his right hand on Ephraim’s head, it displeased him; and he grasped his father’s hand to move it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s head.And Joseph said to his father,“ Not so, my father, for this one is the firstborn. Place your right hand on his head.”But his father refused and said,“ I know, my son, I know; he also will become a people and he also will be great. However, his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his descendants shall become a multitude of nations.”So he blessed them that day, saying,“ By you Israel will pronounce blessing, saying,‘ May God make you like Ephraim and Manasseh!’ ” And so he put Ephraim before Manasseh.

For the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing husband; for otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy.
