“ But so that we may not cause offense, go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four- drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours.”

我誠然是自由的，不屬於任何人，但我使自己成為所有人的奴僕，為了贏得更多的人。對猶太人，我就成為一個像猶太人那樣的人，為了贏得猶太人；對律法之下的人，雖然我自己不在律法之下，我卻成為一個像是在律法之下的人，為了贏得在律法之下的人；對沒有律法的人，我就成為一個像是沒有律法的人那樣，為了贏得沒有律法的人——對神，我不是沒有律法的，而是在基督的律法之下。對軟弱的人，我就成為軟弱的人，為了贏得軟弱的人。對什麼樣的人，我就成為什麼樣的人，一定要拯救一些人。

不過要當心，免得你們的這權利成了軟弱之人的絆跌物。

我們不在任何事上給任何人跌倒的藉口，免得這服事的工作被人挑剔；

因為你們知道我們主耶穌基督的恩典：他雖然富足，卻為你們成了貧窮，好使你們藉著他的貧窮可以成為富足。

不在吃肉、喝酒、或其他事上使你的弟兄絆倒，這才是好的。

所以，如果食物使我的弟兄絆倒，我就絕不吃肉直到永遠，免得使我的弟兄絆倒。

天空的鳥、海裡的魚，以及所有游在海中之路的。

我們堅強的人，應該擔當不堅強人的軟弱，不求自己的喜悅。我們每個人當為了鄰人的益處讓他喜悅，使他得造就。因為基督不但不求自己的喜悅，反而像經上所記的：「那些責罵你之人的責罵，都落在我身上了。」

那時，門徒們前來對他說：「法利賽人聽了這話很反感，你知道嗎？」耶穌回答說：「凡不是我天父所栽種的，都將被連根拔起。隨他們吧！他們是給瞎子領路的瞎子。如果瞎子給瞎子領路，兩個人都會掉進坑裡。」

耶和華指派了一條大魚吞掉約拿；約拿在那魚的肚腹中三天三夜。

神祝福他們，又對他們說：「要繁衍增多，充滿大地，並要制伏這地；也要管理海裡的魚、天空的飛鳥，以及在地上活動的一切生物。」

無論對猶太人、對外邦人，或對神的教會，你們都不可成為絆跌物；要像我那樣，也在一切事上使所有的人喜悅——不求自己的益處，而求多人的益處，好讓他們都能得救。

我親愛的弟兄們，請聽！神難道不是揀選了世上的那些貧窮人，使他們在信仰上富有，並且做他國度的繼承人嗎？這國度是他應許給愛他之人的。

後來，耶和華吩咐那條魚，魚就把約拿吐在陸地上。

連一切惡的樣式都要遠避。

耶穌自己裡面知道他的門徒們為這話私下議論，就對他們說：「這話絆倒你們嗎？

你使他暫時比天使低微；你賜他榮耀和尊貴為冠冕；你使萬有都服從在他的腳下。」既然神使萬有都服從他，就沒有留下一樣不服從他；但如今，我們還沒有看見萬有都服從他。

你自己要在一切事上做出美好工作的榜樣；教導的時候要正直、莊重，要用無可指責的健全話語，使反對的人在我們的事上因沒有壞話可說，就感到羞愧。
