這時，有幾萬人聚集，甚至彼此踐踏。耶穌就先對門徒說：「你們要防備法利賽人的酵，就是假冒為善。

門徒這才明白他所說的不是要他們防備餅的酵，而是要防備法利賽人和撒都該人的教訓。

耶穌囑咐他們說：「你們要謹慎，要防備法利賽人的酵和希律的酵。」

一點麵酵能使全團都發起來。

「凡獻給耶和華的素祭都不可以有酵，因為你們不可把任何的酵或蜜燒了，當作火祭獻給耶和華。

你們這樣自誇是不好的。你們不知道一點麵酵能使全團發起來嗎？既然你們是無酵的麵，要把舊酵除淨，好使你們成為新團；因為我們逾越節的羔羊－基督已經被殺獻為祭牲了。所以，我們來守這節，不可用舊酵，就是不可用惡毒、邪惡的酵，只用純潔真實的無酵餅。

要遠避世俗的空談，因為這等空談會使人進到更不敬虔的地步。他們的話如同毒瘡越爛越大；其中有許米乃和腓理徒，

你們要吃無酵餅七日。第一日要把酵從你們各家中除去，因為從第一日到第七日，任何吃有酵之物的，必從以色列中剪除。第一日當有聖會，第七日也當有聖會。在這兩日，任何工作都不可做，只能預備各人的食物，這是惟一可做的工作。你們要守除酵節，因為我在這一日把你們的軍隊從埃及地領出來。所以，你們要世世代代守這日，立為永遠的定例。從正月十四日晚上，直到二十一日晚上，你們要吃無酵餅。在你們各家中，七日之內不可有酵，因為凡吃有酵之物的，無論是寄居的，是本地的，必從以色列的會中剪除。

於是他對他們說：「你們要謹慎自守，躲避一切的貪心，因為人的生命不在於家道豐富。」
