Then Jesus said to his disciples,“ Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.

Then Jesus told his disciples,“ If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

不背自己的十字架跟從我的，不配作我的門徒。

凡不背着自己的十字架來跟從我的，也不能作我的門徒。

既然基督在肉身受苦，你們也該將這樣的心志作為兵器，因為在肉身受過苦的已經與罪斷絕了，使你們從今以後不再隨從人的情慾，只順從上帝的旨意，在世度餘下的光陰。

耶穌看着他，就愛他，對他說：「你還缺少一件：去變賣你所有的，分給窮人，就必有財寶在天上；然後來跟從我。」

耶穌又對眾人說：「若有人要跟從我，就當捨己，天天背起自己的十字架來跟從我。因為凡要救自己生命的，必喪失生命；凡為我喪失生命的，他必救自己的生命。人就是賺得全世界，卻喪失了自己，或賠上自己，有甚麼益處呢？凡把我和我的道當作可恥的，人子在自己的榮耀裏，和天父與聖天使的榮耀裏來臨的時候，也要把那人當作可恥的。我實在告訴你們，站在這裏的，有人在沒經歷死亡以前，必定看見上帝的國。」

其實，凡立志在基督耶穌裏敬虔度日的，也都將受迫害。

於是他叫眾人和門徒來，對他們說：「若有人要跟從我，就當捨己，背起自己的十字架來跟從我。

因着信，摩西長大了不肯稱為法老女兒之子。他寧可和上帝的百姓一同受苦，也不願在罪中享受片刻的歡樂。他把為彌賽亞受凌辱看得比埃及的財物更寶貴，因為他想望所要得的賞賜。

現在我為你們受苦，倒很快樂；並且為基督的身體，就是為教會，我要在自己的肉身上補滿基督未盡的苦難。

堅固門徒的心，勸他們持守他們的信仰，說：「我們進入上帝的國，必須經歷許多艱難。」

耶穌背着自己的十字架出來，到了一個地方，名叫「髑髏地」，希伯來話叫各各他。

免得有人被這些患難動搖。因為你們自己知道，我們受患難原是命定的。

有一個古利奈人西門，就是亞歷山大和魯孚的父親，從鄉下來，經過那地方，他們就強迫他同去，好背耶穌的十字架。

他們出去的時候，遇見一個古利奈人，名叫西門，就強迫他同去，好背耶穌的十字架。

他們把耶穌帶去的時候，有一個古利奈人西門從鄉下來，他們就拿住他，把十字架擱在他身上，叫他背着跟在耶穌後面。
